The one thing I agree with PGOS on is that Wisconsin could definitely be a championship contender with the right coach and support. No one would have given Indiana a shot two years ago.
I just don't believe the tug of going back to the alma mater is as big a deal as PGOS seems to think it is. It's a personal issue, and no one knows what Eck really thinks about Wisconsin as a be-all-end-all destination.
Would he turn down a huge contract at UW or elsewhere to coach Wisconsin for something less? The one thing I know that is true more often than not is that humans go where the money is. If you don't pony up, you don't get the coach.
And Eck is a good coach. He took a shitty Idaho program to the playoffs in his first year, and the next two seasons as well. He took a previously shitty (and Bronco Mendenhall-led) New Mexico to first place in year one.
If he's waiting for Wisconsin, fine. In the meantime, throw him a bag. A big bag.

So the thinking is, if DeBoer loses to Oklahoma, that they will have a "mutual parting of ways"? And then who do you think Alabama would hire?
Does anyone subscribe to On3?

Fickel chose Wisconsin over other big schools. For years he turned down jobs and stayed at Cincinnati. At one point he was just about the hottest coach in the country for job openings. They are a good program to many people and are down right now.

I don't know what this argument is but Wisconsin is a program that has been a good pipeline to the NFL, with especially notable production of elite NFL O linemen and some good backs.
Like many historical Big 10 teams the Rose Bowl isn't always their friend, and they're certainly no Buck. But I don't buy the idea that they can't win big for some baked in reason. What they have baked in is already in the zip code and with the right coach, yeah, of course they could win big.
When Alvarez had it going they were a program to be reckoned with. In fact, I'd say that during the 90s under Alvarez Wisconsin looked more like UW than not. They just have never had a 1991 but then again we? have only had one 1991 and that was in 1991.
Quality program. Hard to argue otherwise. If they had hired Cigaretti five years ago they'd probably be sniffing a natty if they hadn't already won one by now.

Pate is saying Dillingham is going to take the Michigan job.
I'd be surprised

I have a few UM alum friends and they're all pumped about Kenny.
ASU ties or not, he obviously should take that job if offered, and I think he'd do pretty well there.
-
Will he continue to collude with Lanning’s staff and throw games to make UW look bad?
-
Their best seasons have all been 2006 and later, post-Alvarez.

5 reasons just dropped.
