Sadly, it’s time for the bowls to die. They don’t mean anything anymore, most of the good ones have been absorbed by the playoff, and so many players sit out because they’re going pro or transferring. I hate to say it, but it’s time to expand the playoff to 16 or 24 and kill the bowls.

Am I ever going to care about the Shrieveport bowl and the New Mexico bowl? Fuck no.
But some of these bowls are a good distraction from holiday bullshit if it's a good matchup.
Nothing is dying when the competition is college basketball tune-up games, NBA preseason, and whatever the fuck goes on in NFL tiebreakers from a 17 game season.
People can and will certainly talk about it but it's just an easy engagement topic.

While I agree about the good distraction offered by the bowls, as mentioned by @haie, I think the same thing can be accomplished by just expanding the playoff, as @EsophagealFeces said above.

I did maf there wrong. A field of 28 would produce 27 games assuming 4 get a bye in round 1? Do I have that right? Probably too many?
