13 million a year for Lane

Nah no revision happening here. I don't mean to try to change your mind either. You always seem to be all in or all out, as your reversal regarding Williams illustrates.
I see plenty of what you see too. He has some trust issues and needs to rip it at times. He's also suffering from shell shock like so many other talented QBs we've seen struggle behind shit pass pro.
I won't stick my neck iut any farther than to say that I don't think he's cooked. There is plenty there to work with. If they brought in someone better I wouldn't bat an eye on Demond's behalf. I'm just not putting all of the blame for the shit offense on him.

Watch most of the condensed Ohio State UW game last night, which I hadn't seen yet this season.
Demond can't be the guy to sit back in the pocket. That game came down to Ohio knew it was coming on every critical down, not just that they had great athletes to spy him.
Also, Roebuck. Anybody saying we aren't "talent enough" is just wrong.
Our staff got pantsed 3 out of 4 losses, which the Michigan game I'll concede that I think Demond and Degraaf lost that in the 4th quarter.
-
The staff didn't help Demond out enough, but he also forces throws and doesn't ever throw the ball away
The formula with a QB like Demond should be get the RBs going, get some check downs/screens completed, get him rolling out of the pocket for some RPO options.
-
Fair enough. If I'm being nuanced I can agree with your 3rd paragraph. We've seen his highs and lows I suppose what's missing is a meaty middle.
FWIW the oline won their award in 23 because Penix took a short drop and threw it in 1.5 seconds. I want Demond to be good but I don't think it serves anyone to shovel the issues on to what I believe is a serviceable oline

Demond (who I'm not even that big a fan of) has more than enough talent for a college level offense.
If he forces 1-2 spies and you still can't scheme guys open or utilize rpo's properly then that's a coaching/playcalling issue.
Even more so when you have other talent around him that should also demand the defenses attention.
Tldr if the offense has 3-4 options on almost every down and still can't score more than 10pts it's the coaching.
-
Shouldn't the award be for 15 second dropbacks rather than 1.5 second one?
-
I noticed the same thing @haie He's not a pocket passer and of course in our NFL offense Jedd tries to pound that round peg into a square hole
Demond and Muhammed running a two man at the edge would blow defenses up with a pass option
How many mobile QBs do you see today who keep drives alive with 4 yards on 3rd and 3? A lot on winning teams
It seems like we? never adjusted. Oregon game looked like Ohio State out there Groz
For all the shit Rick gets, most deserved, his first year when Tui and Coniff drew up the option on a napkin and Rick ran it after two losses was one of the best coaching jobs of my lifetime
UW was an annual loos to UCLA away from the Rose Bowl year 1. Tui went 300/200 on Stanford and UW ground down Arizona in the desert leaving them needing only a win at UCLA to clinch
Ahh misty memories

I would put Demond at 5 or 6. Altmyer is a toss up. I can’t say the Rutgers QB is better.
I don’t blame the OL for his struggles. He was inconsistent and played really bad in a couple of games. He was really good in other games. I do think as the team around him gets better, and they will be better next year, that he will also play better.
I also think the offense needs some tweaks and to focus on what he does well instead of having him do everything even if it isn’t a strength of his game. WR room will have a lot of talent, but it will be young. Hopefully Roebuck and a few others are ready.

Should spend money and get a Senior portal WR 1 transfer
There are a lot of solid young players but no one I trust to be the "guy"
-
Agree but I would rather get a great TE and OL. I wish we had unlimited money but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It all depends on who we can get, but a WR on the bench at a blue blood and/or a small school player with great stats would be good at WR.
