I've had the same thought about my nearby Safeway -- Target's reasonable new policy

It was years ago and I rarely shop at Safeway and till don't. Their local deserved reputation was surly and non-engaged employees. They were apparently under a new management program, similar to Target, to actually be nice to their employees. I went in to buy some steaks on sale and a lady came up to me and smiled and said how was I doing. I said, "Do I know you?", because it was so unexpected. She backed off and said she was a Safeway employee and they were supposed to be nice to customers. What a concept.
Actually being in retail and confronting a pile of Karens and free shitters would be my idea of hell. Berating a grocery check out clerk because they were out of risotto like it was their fault is a true tell of a complete POS human.

Pretty funny that anyone would be freaked out by this. ATBS, one of the reasons I don't like shopping at Nordstrom is because the employees won't leave me alone. I hate the overbearing customer service.

I briefly sold women’s shoes at Nordstrom. They live and die by that 11% commission.

You haven't experienced terrible customer service until you walk into a Verizon store with your pixel just bricked, just trying to get in and out of there with a new working phone in under an hour.

Back in the early to mid 80’s, hooking up with a Nordy girl was high end trim.
