So what's up with UWs basketball team?
Found this having to do with the nation's top teams to add talent this year.
5. Washington Huskies (+7.5)
2021-24 average net score: +2.5
2025 ranked players added: +10
No. 13 Wesley Yates III via USC (+4)
No. 39 Desmond Claude via USC (+3)
No. 58 Quimari Peterson via East Tennessee State (+2)
No. 86 Jacob Ognacevic via Lipscomb (+1)
2025 ranked players lost: 0
Washington broke even on star transfers during Mike Hopkins' tenure as coach, adding some well-ranked names -- think No. 30 Keion Brooks Jr. (via Kentucky) in 2022 -- while seeing few exits. Since Danny Sprinkle's arrival from Utah State, though, the Huskies have been more active. Some of that was just by virtue of former Aggies players to follow him, as was the case with No. 6 Great Osobor in 2024. But this year's class of additions is deeper, and it would not be surprising to see USC transfers Claude and Yates III lead the Huskies in scoring during their first season in Seattle, as Washington looks to make its first NCAA tournament since 2019.

I wish them the best.
I honestly can't say I've watched more than a few games in the last 15 years.
-
Great bored choice?
-
top 10 pick next year. Then freshman pg named JJ.
this years team will be fun to watch.

DR trigger warning.

Why is your photo a gorilla?
-
UW Alum spending money on the basketball team like Mark Cuban does on Indiana football
-
I couldn’t name one player on that team
-
I’m actually looking forward to watching a few games this year. My 7 year old just started his basketball season, so I’m sure we’ll tune in occasionally.
-
Now, I know some of you don't react well when changes are made to Hardcore Husky.
Nevertheless, Stalin is moving some checker pieces around the chess board. I like to refer to myself in the third person. It's what I like to do.
I have merged the MAHA board into the Tug Tavern. I have merged the NFL board into the Mariners Baby! + Other Sports board. And I have merged the basketball board into the main Husky board. For the four people here who wish to discuss the rigged NBA, please do so in the Mariners Baby! forum.
These changes are meant to streamline the site. Thank you to @dtd for the suggestion. No posts have been deleted, just moved.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I'll watch some basketball this year. Usually UW basketball is dead before football season is even over but it would be nice to have another sport to follow January-March and I lost interest in my first true love which was the NBA completely.
-
I’m going to the first game to see the skwad
-
Sucks Traore is out for the year, he’s Franck light w/ a ton more mobility, same energy. When UW gets healthy they are gonna be pretty deep all around
-
It seems like we have a pretty deep and loaded roster. Steinbach should be great. He dominated for Germany in the world competitions. The PG has gotten rave reviews from Sprinkle and the players. We have both leading scorers from USC. Diallo and Tucker (Indiana transfer) were both 5 star high school players and are depth pieces.
Maybe it is preseason hype, but talent wise, this roster looks like a tournament team.
-
I found out today that Lorenzo Romar is now an assistant coach for Loyola Marymount. That guy's star has really faded.
-
I am excited to see Steinbach play. Incredibly skilled with a high basketball IQ. Should be a fun year to get back into UW basketball if you have checked out for a few years.
-
I really like LoRo and who he is and what he is about.
With the benefit of hindsight, I wish we'd not moved on from him.
I just think the world needs more people & coaches like him, with his value set. -
can’t wait for UW to lose to Sam Houston State in front of 1,768 at Hec Ed as always
-
Why does it seem like UW has 1 or 2 NBA players every year but goes .500. I'm not fully tuned in though
-
It's the script
-
He was lazy, hired shitty assistants, and had very little organization. He might be a good guy, but the program was a mess with him and was not going to get better. Hopkins is/was a goofy dufus, but Romar needed to go.
-
I don't trust a UW basketball team until proven otherwise. Even when they have been good they've always underachieved.
-
moving on from LoRo wasn't the problem. Hopkins miraculously winning P12 COTY with Romar's players and getting a a huge expensive extension was the problem. Should have waited another year before extending him and it owuld have saved us millions
I think Sprinkle MIGHT be the real deal. LIPO -
There seems to be a lot of excitement for this years team, but at this point its kind of like the Christmas present under the tree. It looks tantalizing but once you rip the gift wrap off it could very well be a lifetime supply of plain white socks from KMart. They hold up at first, but slowly slide down your leg in a clump just above your shoes.
-
If we're gonna start bashing plain white socks from KMart, I'm out!
-
I think I watched three games last year.
It just doesn't move the needle.
