We(?) Need Rhino

I wonder if the TE who is a RS-Frosh and out for the season for the 2nd year in a row may medically retire (Charlie Crowell?) so Rhino would help replenish the room with Moore moving on too:

Would be a great addition, especially if his spunk helps our team get bigger, stronger, faster.

I know I'm a broken record but that we don't recruit high school and portal TEs better is brain breaking. We use the TE a ton, we have a long-term and recent track record, and the position is wide open next year for reps to go along with DeGraaf.

DeGraaf was a good get, Naone was a good get but Phil Knight came in and bought Vander Ploog (highest ceiling) last year. The good news is that Phil Knight won't be able to do that nearly much with the House settlement.

With that said, Rhino is a big piece of changing the narrative around Paopao's relatively weak recruiting compared to the success that Richardson (WR) and Graham (RB) have had.

DeGraaf is solid but is a guy who usually at UW redshirts and doesn't start playing until year 3-4. Two injuries two Moore have pushed him into more action.

Come on, man. That is so doogy. Even money equal you can't say a recruit would have chosen Oregon over UW last cycle just because of cash. Especially since Ploog looked like he had their typical white chocolate vibe and they've really pushed their TEs in the media starting with the late great, Lyerla.

I agree about DeGraaf. He was a high 3 star but normally would have redshirted and then been a back-up for a year or two.

Regarding Ploog, one of the reasons why he committed to UW was his desire for a good education and specifically the forestry program. But when Phil Knight came with a big cash bag that UW couldn't match (before the House settlement), he couldn't say no. I'm not sure how telling it like it is is being doogy.

I don't remember that specific story with Ploog, but sure. The guy looked more like he would be interested in Oregon's Devon Allen/Terrance Ferguson White Boy with Flava Program than forestry.

I'm not sure to hang your hat on the House settlement thing. They had some high profile swings and misses in recruiting around the time that happened but I think they've done fine otherwise, which includes greasing the on3 wheels to bump up the ratings of their 3rd/4th choices when they commit.

Yeah the House settlement thing isn't the end all, be all but I still think it helps programs like Washington that have plenty of resources but don't have a billionaire booster who is willing to put in $30 million a year to buy players with very non market-value NIL deals. That's largely a thing of the past.
