How did we?

score 27 points and actually move the ball against a Michigan defense last year with Mason Graham, Will Johnson, and Kenneth Grant and this year our supposedly better skwad couldn’t do shit?

I'm being told it's because we are "making progress" in year 2 under Jedd.
I'm personally, not seeing it.Lest we forget, we beat Michigan last year with Will Rogers at QB.
What exactly is the "progress" this year that we are seeing?
-
Will Rogers is 1-0 against Michigan while Penix & Demond are 0-2.
-
Christian Caple is shilling for Jedd a bit, as he is pushing that narrative
-
I know losing the left side of the line was poison but how bad the running game is makes zero sense and Coleman hasn’t broken a tackle or made anyone miss since UCDavis and is constantly running to the sidelines. Guessing he’s hurt too.
-
When they roll Williams outside the pocket he has time to go deep and he throws a great deep ball. Buck and Wolve had the outside edge locked down. You keep Williams in the pocket and he's short and throwing it into the face mask of the D line
He will continue to do great against the low life teams and has yet to show that he or his genius coach can scheme against D 1 talent

I wonder if the administration is noticing (or worried about) the Jedd support waning and they need to get some public support out there for him?
I think we could LOSE OUT and nothing would change.
In fact, I think if we go 7-5 this year and 7-5 NEXT year, he'll still be here.
That's how down I am on this situation. I have very little faith that anything will change no matter what happens on the field, barring an Oregon St. type of start to next year or something.
This is like being on an 8 hour flight, and only in hour 2, and realizing you have no choice but to watch the movies they are going to show for the next several hours.

Pat Chin will sit back and wait for orders from above. Like always, he’s just doing what he’s been told to do.
-
The way things go, I half expect him to suddenly take a different gig.
-
unless some programs get way better going 7-5 with next years schedule is gtfo time. Almost might be worse if we go like 9-3 still lose to Oregon Beat no one good and we are back to Sark years of perpetual just above average.
-
No argument here!
I think we bought a questionable product with Jedd.
His one HC gig was AZ and we bought the restoration and 1 year pop he had. There's no shame in that, in my view. With incomplete data, this sometimes happens and we were in a tough spot getting surprise dumped and roster raided by Kalen.
I'm still open to being optimistic if they surprise down the stretch here.
For me that would need to be going 9-3 … would prefer to shock Oregon, but realistically that's a loss, but it needs to be a game in the 4th Q.
If they are truly showing progress, they need to win all the other games.
-
Jedd’s spectacular 2023 season was beating all the crappy and average teams and not playing Oregon and losing to UW and USC. It seems like that is the plan going forward too.
-
Kinda racist.gif
-
until he wins games he is “supposed” to lose and quits losing games he is “supposed” to win, we have a loser coach at UW.
Mediocrity at its finest

We talked year ago about what Jedd's offensive identity is, and here we are a year later.....
A year from today, there is much higher probability than not, that we are having discussions about identity and trajectory of program. Beating the 3 comm. College occ teams and combo of Rutgers, Northwesterns, Purdue, Maryland, Spartys of world every year why not being competitive against the upper echelon of B10 makes you a #jag #mid program
-
There's zero questions about Jedd's identity on offense at this point. None.
In 2023 it's still pretty vivid where you have Fafita throwing up bombs to McMillian as he's getting killed over and over by Oklahoma rushers and idl.
It's pretty much what he does against equal or better talent: back shoulder fades, play action bombs when the defense knows it's coming, etc.
"NFL passing attack". I don't watch the NFL but the description of the Bengals this year seems about right.
-
It looks like the coaches watched the USC Michigan tape and didn't think that Michigan's coaches would adjust at all.
-
One of my "keys to the game" as it were, as that Jedd needed to be innovative with the playcalling vs Michigan. And overall it was very uninspired.
-
I'm not implying that Christian is being told what to write. Not at all. I just think he is not going to rock the boat and risk the relationships he has built with this business he has created and nurtured to where its at.
-
Credentials, access and private conversations are sure fire ways to kill your product.
-
It’s obvious that we don’t have the OL to run his offense against a physical defense so this season is over. It all starts and ends with a few draft pick level players that help populate the OL and DL and we dont have any at the present time. The young guys may develop, transfers can help, I guess we will see.
-
this is pretty nega but Judd got his biggest win that year against Oregon State possibly because Smith did some weird fake field goal or something instead of taking points before the half?
-
Great call back
-
Its gonna take time, guys. I know ots a hard ask, but you need to In the era of the transfer portal, you can't expect a coach to come in and compete in winnable games in year 2, you just can't. Next year, we lose Jonah, Boston, and Willis so the team should take a pretty big step back. Un year 4, we will be trying out a new QB. In year 5, he'll be getting his feet under him. Realistically, by year 6, we should be able to win 8 games... maybe even more. In the meantime, please have patience. We're going in the right direction, he just needs more tim.

Just keep those Tyee donations coming in!
