I believe UW knew perfectly well what Alabama was going to offer. Given that, the $9.4 million offer was unserious and insulting and it's no surprise that he didn't bother to respond.

At the time 7th highest (probably 8th including Riley) salary (fact) for a guy that won games but didnt want to recruit as seen by the 47th ranked class he brought in (fact) seems like a wise starting point for the AD.
Deboer did not go back to him demanding 12 mil or he walks (fact) after signing with Sexton. So if he signed with Sexton but didn't want to use him to make more money then he had an alternative reason (fact).

DeBoers class was 47th? Was that the final ranking after he left? Because I remember that 2023/2024 class sitting right around 20 in 247 before he took the Bama job.
