They do this to dissuade sickos like me from visiting the sites. I'm still gonna visit but this type of thing is common. I'd venture they are making some changes to the building the shooter was perched on as well.

Years ago I was living out of state and flew home to Seattle to visit for the holidays. My dad picked me up from the airport and drove straight to Gary Ridgeway’s house, no warning. In the mid 90’s on a family trip to Disneyland we spent the better part of a day looking for OJ’s house. My dad is apparently one of you.

The street view of Ridgeways house, the dude living there bought a lookalike truck that's parked in the yard. Dark shit. Before the building I think caught fire, used to go to the Wamee massacre site more than I'd like to admit. That said I never went alone, and the people I was with always wanted to see it. Morbid fascination. I have also driven by the Trang Dai Massacre in Tacoma. Also I used to have small talk with Kyle and Kane Huff years before Kyle killed a bunch of kids on Capitol Hill.

I never hosed off evidence at a crime scene shortly after the crime as in the Trump assassination attempt. Not something I have ever seen in my nearly three decades doing the job.
