He’s better than average but I’m not impressed with his first half play and decision making with the ball in his hand meaning holding on too long (sacks), taking unnecessary hits or simply getting ride of the ball.
I would gladly exchange Fish and Demond for Coach Cigerette! All day, everyday …if Fish ends the regular season 10-2 I’ll eat crow, I believe 9-3 is his ceiling this season and I won’t be surprised when he goes 8-4 losing at Michigan, at UCLA and Oregon. These slow first half’s are going to fuck us eventually. -
I'm still an 8-4 is the likely scenario pessimist. There are a lotta tossups (or lean L) left on the schedule.
If we win in the Big House then I'll be a 9-3 pessimist.
-
Demond has just been pretty good overall but he still has a Heisman type ceiling next year. He can still grow a lot the rest of this year
-
This will be the first time Fish has developed a kid for 3-4 years. I’m interested to see how it all turns out. He’s like Boner, always moving on after 2 years. At Arizona he had 3 QB’s in 3 years.
-
my favorite part is TX St and Tech is on the list but not the chosen one 😆
-
I think 5'8" is his ceiling;-)
-
Lmao yeah actually even in that way he might grow more
-
We haven't had a guy like him. Penix is the GOAT, but he was arm and read assassin.
I have watched so many other programs (whom we have played) have a dude at QB that makes fucking me scream into a pillow because their goddamn guy runs all the time and it's frustrating to be on the other side. Now we gots one. I am enjoying it.

Four of the top five are Big 10 baby!
-
This. We can quibble about his play in certain moments, but he’s a great player. The Kyler Murray comparisons are legit.
-
He's very, very good. I don't think we can say great until we see a great performance against a top tier opponent.
-
I've been pretty LIPO and we need more Tim to fully assess Demond but I do need to remember he's only started a handful of games and didn't even redshirt and is doing what he is doing. Rutgers isn't a great opponent but we've played endless shittier teams in Husky history and no one has done what he did against them.
-
He’s really fast, accurate, and doesn’t turn the ball over much.
-
Warren Moon's breakout greatness game was 1977 USC
Chris Chandler's was 1986 Ohio State
Billy Joe Hobert's was 1991 Nebraska
Marques Tuiasosopo's was 2000 Miami
Michael Penix's was 2023 Oregon
Demond Williams' is ……. ?
-
Not to doog too hard but Rutgers and Maryland are also not the dreck that you might think of them historically. Seems like all these teams have realized they need to get there football competitive or be at risk of getting left out next time there's a conference shake up
In other words that was a GOOD Rutgers Scarlet (K)nights
-
Outside of Chandler all those guys played on really, really great teams. Pretty sure this isn’t a great team in 2025. Let’s see if Fish can develop a great one around him before he leaves.
-
No real arguments, but Penix was already very good all of 2022 and had the Oregon game at Autzen. Tui was great in 1999 and had the Stanford 300/200 game with the conference title on the line. If only it weren’t for the UCLA game.
-
Actually I meant to say Penix 2022 vs Oregon.
-
Rep the Midwest, Baby!
-
Yeah, this year's Maryland and Rutgers teams feel like your usual Arizona or Cal teams that were in the Pac-10/12 over the years. They have some nice talent and athletes in spots. Could see them win 4-7 games depending on how things go. Neither seemed like a bottom tier Pac team though.
-
It's fun getting the big time B1G games, but in terms of the dreck/mid tier, I'd still rather be playing CAL, AZ, ASU, etc. There's just no emotional connection to fucking Rutgers vs, say, Cal.
My great grandpappy played baseball for Cal. My paternal grandparents met there. They are my arch nemesis in rowboat. I don't even know what town Rutgers is in.
I'd go back to the alignments in circa 1990 in a heart beat.
-
PAC dreck > B1G dreck in shitty weather cities with nothing to do.
-
Piscataway
-
he needs to learn to throw it away, live to see another down, before he’s considered great.
He’s extremely entertaining to watch when he’s locked in but still has his moments. Still inexperienced so these things are to be expected.
-
I've done row boat training with UW at Princeton, NJ. That's pretty close by I guess.
-
This is a really great way to put it.
This kid 20lbs of muscle heavier as a Senior could be an amazing player.
-
Don't think you want to change his body type drastically or he could lose his agility. Another 10ish might not hurt though
-
He is little now. He could put on 20 ish and still be just as quick and fast. More durable too long term.
Or he could be Browning and look more gumby as a senior than a frosh
-
Ok true he's almost 20 lighter than Kyler and he's got probably 2 inches on him
-
just saw a Castricone tweet Demond leads all players in the nation on 20+ yard runs. Absolutely bonkers if true.
