That was a gritty win

Maryland was 4-0, had a bye week, was playing at home (in the world's lamest sellout, butt still…)
Washington looked lost for three quarters before remembering to play football.
This reminded me a lot of the 2018 Rose Bowl, except UW didn't dig themselves in an insurmountable hole.
Maryland played scared as the DAWGS inched closer.
Fisch saved his job. This was one of the most challenging remaining games on the schedule.
Win out.

@Michigan, v. Illinois, @ Wiscy, @ UCLA, v. Eugene
That’s 5 of 7 left or the majority, UW gets 3 wins out of that run and take care of Purdue and Buttgers, everyone’s happy?
-
At the beginning of the year I thought I would be happy with 8 wins, continuing the rebuild. Now, the goal posts have moved.
Win or gtfo, Jedd.
.
-
Wiscy looks like shit so far. UCLA looked good today but probably won't by November.
-
El Paso is nice in December.
-
UCLA is a program that no longer gives a shit and Washington needs to start putting that program in its place at the bottom of the pecking order
A 1/3rd full Rose Bowl has been our house of horrors for way too fucking long
-
Felt like the Dawgs asserted actual physical dominance in the second half while Maryland ran out of steam.
Our athletes looked better and we basically beasted them, and got explosive again, in the closing portion.
I think UW looks best when they play to move the chains, get in a rhythm, and then take shots.
Not coming out blazing.
-
Yeah the UW defense was manhandling would be blockers and hitting hard the last 1.5 quarters.
Way too many third downs converted prior to that, but Walters is a big upgrade over man bun
-
The better team won the game. Judd Hirsch being down to 39-68 Locksley by 20 is scary AF.
-
Locksley has a decent squad this year. They have been recruiting well and that freshman QB is a gamer.
Nebraska @ Maryland next week will be interesting.
-
I think Locksley being a shitty coach was part of their implosion. The CB that got called for taunting (it was a bullshit call and always is) was acting ridiculous. It was a first down fade that was incomplete. We still had three more plays inside the 10. I couldn’t believe he was still throwing a tantrum. Move the fuck on. I would lose my shit if our starting CB was acting like that.
-
If you’d told me after the first drive of the third quarter we’d be staring 5-1 in the mirror after next Friday I’d have told you that you’re crazy. The Husky defense was blowing Maryland up in the fourth quarter. Big thanks to Locksley for throwing so much after they got up 20. Without that UW simply runs out of tim.
-
Winning 3 of those 5 plus the other is my bare minimum.
-
0-5 there. Only possible win was UCLA but after Pedo State UCLA will be greased up
-
I noticed that multiple Maryland players had a feminine energy to them — throwing "look at me" tantrums on the sideline and a few minutes later still visibly upset instead of refocusing.
-
… and yes for the record, the taunting penalty was every bit as horrific as the roughing penalty we suffered vs Ohio State
-
The targeting penalty was the most impactful…. It was a 50/50 call at best.
-
The running into the kicker rather than roughing (which it objectively would be called 95% of tim) might have been the difference.
-
and the targeting to remove one of their best pass rushers at half
the luck of the Dawgs! -
Can't wait to watch it at home Thursday night when I get home. Had to watch this one on my phone. I guess I didn't realize they threw so much in the 2nd half. I thought they had gone conservative.
-
I’m not saying they sit down when they pee but I will say their urine streams probably sound feminine when they hit the urinal.
-
Never should have been a flag thrown in the first place.
Also, Maryland wouldn't shut the fuck up after going up just 13 at half. So it's not like the other flags came out of nowhere.
Locksley has a good young core to get him another year unless he implodes. Maryland already beat Wisconsin on the road which I've been told since last November is an impossible game for everyone, right?
-
Locksley is in his 7th year there and the announcers going on and on about his freshmen isn't a good sign in reality. Its the classic if you can't win talk recruits and youth and more time
Except its year 7 dude
The 2nd half UW looked like they have been recruiting. Amazing how much better players look when they give max effort and have a plan and execute it
-
A gritty win was was 2020 was against that shitty QB before Whittingham was able to start playing Captain Concussion. ZTF gets the scoop and return and then Morris hit two clutch throws he would never make again as a husky.
This was, to the remaining 1000 🐢 fans in the stadium, "The last 17 minutes of your viewing experience is just going to be nightmare fuel"
The second 3-and-out on 3rd down when it went incomplete and stopped the clock, I don't know if I blame them leaving early to hit the bars like they supposedly did.
-
The promising frosh QB buys him another year.
Im hoping they beat Nebraska next week
-
The Maryland fan next to me was begging Locksley to run clock. Pleading if you will. He knew the timing was tight for a comeback and wanted more ball control. Nice guy, we shook hands after the collapse and wished each other well, He was clearly not a Locksley fan.
-
Just as bad, but not nearly as important. We still had three more plays. It gave us three yards and another down. We scored the next play.
-
They will never be good with Locksley. They should have already fired him. It’s also a prime school for other teams to poach. The good players there probably dream of playing for better programs.
-
That is a cool story.
-
Yep. Maryland, as a whole, was younger and dumber than UW. The targeting and the dipshit's inability to get over the PROPERLY called taunting call were stupid, stupid, stupid plays.
There is a taunting rule and if it is in the books it needs to be called when appropriate and this one was.
-
Maryland had a gaggle of mental midgets acting out during the game both on and off the field.
That's a feature of Locksley's teams there, not a bug.
