Joe had Al Pacino play him in the Sandusky movie so there's that

In my estimation, the 3 worst fan bases in the US are Penn State, Oregon, and BYU. Not sure who gets the 4th spot on Mt Rushmore.

I mean, hard to say what fans suspected. That's a big question covering a rather large population of people. Like asking how many Germans really knew what was happening at the camps. Not all knew, but some did, and many had good reason to at least suspect. From what I recall reading, the longer it went on the more scuttlebutt there was around town and around the program and university. No question at all that Joe Pa knew he had a problem. The only thing nobody will ever really know was how long he knew but I can tell you he didn't find out about it when you and I did.
My impression from it is that eventually there was talk around town and then it continued on for a time. I'm sure he had been doing it for a very long time and then got brazen, careless and indulgent, which is the hubris that eventually gets them all.Anyway, fuck those guys.

My dad said when he left the stadium in Arizona in 1992 he had fans getting in his face screaming the worst curse words imaginable. So I'm guessing he'd toss in a vote for U of A

Only almost fight I ever experienced at a football game was at a Husky tailgate (Montlake) with an eager and fratty OSU beaver who made an inappropriate reference to my wife's tits. But that's all I've ever dealt with personally, though I've seen many a fan misbehave (including our? own). I personally do not talk shit with strangers at games. Seems like a bad idea with little to no upside. I also mostly sit/sat next to a former Husky who people often recognize, and I think that tends to subdue the shit talking a bit as a general matter.
Today I'd probably just high five the guy in agreement over the comment and say "you have no idea buddy." But I was young with a greater tendency to waste energy on non-sensical matters. When you cross 50 you become much more discerning about what does and, just as importantly, does not matter.

At Ohio State in 95 the local ruffians ignored me to take shots at my mom
Fortunately I was able to hold her back
Her family settled in Ohio in 1830. Her uncle was on the first Ohio State team

Michigan fans were getting it pretty good from us? last year. I don't think that bad, but pretty bad. None of it was coming from me though. zilch
If Ohio State loses I don't think we?ll be that classy either.

Not sure who THE worst fanbases are. They all tend to get obnoxious. But not having a southern school in the conversation seems wrong.
Also seems like Texas, the state, has a pretty high self-image and assumes the rest of the world is obsessed with them, which is definitely not the case for this left coaster who was born in the site of water (and it's there that I feel my best). Somewhere down there there must be a top 5 annoying fanbase. I remember the dude who wanted to fight two or three Husky players (good luck old guy) after the game while popping off from the stands. -
Way back in the day, before Gilby and Pickett went to Columbus , some of the tOSU fans who came on the doogman free board were comical…caricatures of sports fans modeled after WWE characters. They were real people who meant what they saidt hough, as best as I could tell. It was interesting and fun.
