Five Seattle Area Public Courses that suck donkey dick
5) Jackson - That opening par 5 where you most likely will have a downhill lie into a elevated green puts me in a bad mood to begin with.
4) Redmond Ridge - Gimicky, overated course. Hole number 3 where you're dealing with water the entire time and is designed to filter you into the water even if you hit down the middle. The designers think that hole with the big drop off is fun but its stupid.
3) Harbor Pointe - Is there a time of year where this course isn't muddy and sloppy?
2) Jefferson Dumb Course - Only course where I've lost the ball after hitting it in the middle of the fairway. What they've done to the back 9 is a crime. Let those idiot home owners complain about that former par 4. They knew what they signed up for when they moved there.
1)Willows Run - What an overpriced, uninteresting course. These guys charge a premium for what you get and then somehow can't afford a leaf blower

Oh probably those closing holes on the back. Yeah i'm going to add that to the "Things I like about Seattle area golf courses". (Unique, immersive experiences)

Which ones do you like? Redmond Ridge was actually nice early on, went downhill when they sold all of the houses and then Oki took it over. Agreed it blows now.

- Chambers - got a bad rap from those fescue greens they used to have
- Gold Mountain - the best bang for your buck in the entire state
- Port Ludlow - Not really Seattle area, but a nice ferry ride and a hidden gem
- Home Course - Same as above. Pretty decent value, course is always in good shape
- Trophy Lake - Love it for the risk/reward holes
Btw, Add Newcastle to the bad course list. Overpriced and gone downhill with Oki

Yes those are all good. They are just huge drives and not really Seattle. Any in Seattle or near Seattle? The only one I like that’s relatively close is Druids Glen.

Spokane area public courses are great. About the only thing city government hasn't completely fucked up. County went soft and renamed Hangman to Latah Creek but course is still solid.
A Canyon Burger at Indian Canyon is one of life's simple pleasures.

Yeah basically every other major city in Washington besides Seattle/Bellevue has good public golf options.

Took the words right out of my mouth except I couldn't use them because they weren't Seattle courses. I've never once been disappointed in any Spokane Muni i've played. I was disappointed in private course Kalispel. That might as well been a muni.

I'm not a fan of any Seattle public course so yeah its hard to compile that list. You were right on an earlier post. You have to drive away to find decent public golf.
Its been a LONG time since i've played Druids. I might need to go back so I can assess it but I wasn't a fan before. Washington National is a nice risk/reward type course too but I think its overpriced and it doesn't drain well.

Haven’t played Druids in awhile either, its had some bad times with conditioning over the years with losing some greens. But I’ve seen it in great conditions too. The layout is strong imo and they had a US Open qualifier this year. To get that I assume it’s in decent shape these days.

Kalispel is the former Spokane Country Club. Open to the public but not a municipal course. Privately owned by the Kalispel tribe

I've played Willows once. Thought it was super boring (too flat) and way too expensive. Not sure how it ever got a good reputation. I also remember it having a ton of soft areas.
White Horse is pretty good, but I think it costs a little more money than it should. It's always in good shape, though.
Gold Mountain is great. Kitsap County has some great courses.

Willows was nicer back in the day. The draw was always the location and that it was slightly better than Tall Chief or Carnation (RIP to both) where us poor Eastside kids grew up playing.

I played a lot at Tall Chief and Carnation as a flooring consultant. Very relaxed
