Fun fact we're back edition

Tough to knock Miami off their spot. And most here are too young but 1990 USC was like finding water in the desert. Hadn't won the league since 1982. Did win a natty in 84 (quack)
USC had won three straight league titles
Bucks have been on a run and we owe them for the Petersen Retirement Rose Bowl but we have been down one year since a 25-3 run to the title game

Big difference in that Miami team was actually underrated at #4 and the rest of those teams were us beating up really overrated teams. I actually feel like the best opponent comp here is 2007 Ohio State or USC. Non-exceptional versions of elite programs on rolls who may be JAGy at QB coming into Husky Stadium. We kept it a game with Ohio State for a while before they pulled away and kept it a game all the way through with USC but couldn't win.
I think the Dwags this year are better than 2007. Does that mean anything?

I think Miamuh was the best team on that list, but I think in spite of the tough times under Lambo, we'd hadn't become nationally irrelevant in the same fashion as the Gibly/Ty/Sark years.
2009 USC was great but we were not back.
2016 Stanford was a great win, but still Stanford.
2022 MSU was way overrated
-
2022 MSU was big only because 4-8 Jimmy but I agree the walk in the desert hadn't been that long
To me the win under Miami is Oregon 2023.

It's weird the way time works now but it's crazy to think 2000-91 was the same difference as 2016 is now. USC ended up sucking in 2009 and we got a huge break with Barkley being injured. 2016 got blowed out by the Coug in Palo Alto the following week and lost to Colorado 5-10 not long after. McCaffrey was banged up early in that season and they had nothing at QB.

Suggesting we could jump to number 1 is retarded. There’s zero chance of that. We’ll be in the 15-20 range if we manage to pull it off. Preseason rankings are fucking dumb. There should be no rankings until the CFP rankings come out
-
But someone will always have a pole. It's science
IF UW wins Ohio State gets dinged for losing to an unranked team because the SEC has 24 teams ranked
B1G writers should have ranked UW top 10 like SEC teams so its either a ranked win or a GOOD loss
-
does udub get ranked with a close loss?
-
losing in OT would put us at about #22
-
9 point spread indicates they already should be top 20. A cover deserves 18-22
-
All you have to do now is look up who is paying players the most. That's who wins. There's really not much historical comparison since in those days (mostly) it was still amateur.

Yeah except all the numbers being thrown out still seem made up. Ohio State's 22 million or whatever was supposed to be absurd last year, and then Jimmy Rogers accuses us of spending 30+ million. I'mAMan accused Oregon of spending 40 I believe.
There's haves and have nots but this is all just rage slander. It's the modern version of Leach crying that we had "an nfl dline" back in 2014 when we overpowered them.
