Saturday should have been the last Apple Cup

If you were at the 2022 game in Eugene you are purple pilled forever. I don't care how gay it is to admit that.
Joey's almost at the acceptance phase.
-
In the interest of tradition, I think throwing em a bone and scheduling 2 for 1 would be fine. Given the insane in conference travel, it makes sense logically for "us" to play games in state. But more than that, it would shame the fuck out of Wazzu and OS. /shrug
-
We've had 10 years of two dudes standing in the middle of the ring throwing haymakers. Nobody on the ropes.
-
Do you think that continues if 1) Cuog is never/rarely competitive in the game and 2) it is never played in Pullman anymore?
I don't see how the athletic department gives up a 7th home game, especially not until we're getting a full share of TV revenue.
-
UW is borrowing future B10 earnings to close the gap on this half share nonsense as we speak. Is that 10 mil a year? 15? So when UW gets a full share in 2031 they’ll still be at a deficit to the rest of the league except for probably cuck UCLA. I don’t think Oregon is borrowing money, pretty sure Phil is covering that gap or at least most of it. This program needs revenue flow and playing games in Pullman is a financial drag for the AD. The arguments for continuing are valid and make sense from an emotional and regional perspective but strictly from the black and white financial side, it is in UW’s best interest to part ways.

You'd think a boomer would want this to continue but the ugly truth is that I have never liked the Apple Cup since I was a young pup. My dad hated all the NW teams because he didn't think they belonged in the same league as UW and the California schools. I like that kind of Husky arrogance. He hated the games, except Oregon because he hated them more, and never once got excited to play WSC
82 and 83 sealed it. Nothing to win everything to lose
Same as it ever was

Almost? Still have a purple pill boner

Your Pops wasn't wrong.
There was a disparity in the old Pac 8 in terms of prestigious institutions- i.e., Stanford, Cal, UW, UCLA and USC & the cow colleges/UO.
Also, of the famous interstate rivalries in college football, there was probably no greater disparity than UW and WSU in terms of wealth and prestige.

I didn't go to school for school, pal.
-
Coogs don’t want it either. Bury it.
-
People forget Montana was in the old PCC till 1950 and Idaho through 1959.

I don't think this is at all sustainable more than 2 - 3 more years. WSU is going to get its ass beat mercilessly and their fans will want an end to the beatings. UW fans who aren't already bored playing WSU will soon become indifferent to the game.
-
With the ACC going to 9 conference plus 1 P4 non-con, but needing 1 team to only play 8 conference and instead play 2 non-con P4 (LOL how ridiculous), the opportunity is there for a scheduling alliance with UCLA, UO, Cal and Stanford.
Cal & Stanford rotate which one has to play 8 + 2, which gives them 3 Power 4 games to fill.
Those 3 Power 4 games rotate through UW, UO and UCLA.
(USC is good because they have ND). Cuog and Beav can keep playing in-state rivalries if they want and they should want the TV exposure at that point.
-
Next year it'll feel like beating on Eastern going forward.

Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen

it’s Joe Bidden’s fault

Disagree. Their fans are insufferable. I've had so many beyond ridiculous interactions with Cuog fans over the years, I've lost count. And ever since I had empty fifth bottles thrown at my head after the 2002 AC… yeah, they can all go ahead and fuck right off.
-
Leaving that shit hole last year with how their fans were, I waited patiently for last week/last weekend/this week.
Has lived up to it so far.
-
Now that I think about it, I think I started to resent their fans way less because they were neutered because they lost so much but when they won in 2021 leaving the stadium was an endless parade of Cougs trying to start fights. Fuck em.
-
ASJ sucker punched by a Cuog fan, Buddha Baker tripped on the sideline by a WSU assistant during the fucking game. But yeah, let's keep this awesome rivalry going. Busch league.
-
There is zero chance of a scrimmage spring game vs anybody other than guys you can control. Either 2 in HS and one in Pullman or alternate HS and the Clink and if they don’t like that f’em
-
What does all that even mean, Pod?
If I remember correctly, you’re good with a bunch of news reporters saying who’s the best in CFB instead of playing it out?
-
I’m saying that Miss St is the Washington State of the SEC, albeit with a much bigger stadium cause SEC, SEC, SEC!!
-
Checks out. Mike Leach was great at both places without winning anything of note
-
Relegation now, relegation tomorrow and relegation forever.

Last year was way, way, worse than 2021. Not actually being at the road team's stadium, there were way more out of control drunk people there than previous years.
After the game, it's kind of unbelievable to see all these cops around controlling traffic while a bunch of cars are swerving all over the road as they honk at anyone with a purple license plate.
They all hid last week. FTG for real.
-
I assume a lot of Dwag fans like me anticipated this and a potential lose so avoided that game. It's also a reminder that almost every game in the 2010s psychotic asshole Cougs showed up in our section but their team was getting pummeled so quickly they didn't really get the chance to assholes and left early.
