Dick Hurt should have focused on not losing to abysmal ASU and Stanford teams and losing to Cal and UCLA teams they should have beat. That's a team that Leach gets to 10 wins with but gets boat raced in the Apple Cup.

About 60% of the team walked by our tailgate after the game and weren't the least bit celebratory. I think they were scared of the Fanduel spread against Oregon.

It’s true they walked by us like “what’s so exciting?”

1980: My intro to the Apple Cup…Last one to be played at Joe Albi, getting in for free with somebody’s WSU ID, smuggling in about 2 cases of beer, beating Samoa Samoa, with about a 12 hour after party.

2002: Free admission again, went with one of my bff’s who was working in Cuog AD, and my boy white-hat Gordon Riese (a long story for another tim, but I know him), made the backward pass call, and I spent the rest of the evening/morning drinking with a bunch of despondent Cuog alum beisbol guys…

The majority of my friends are Cuog, and it is strange that, in thinking back over the decades, the most fun / best stories of the AC were after Husky losses, during the postgame…that isn’t what this thread is about, but I find it interesting in retrospect…
