What people forget about Don James

He barely outperformed our historical winning percentage against the Coug.
Don was 13-5 vs WSU so .722 against series standings of 76–34–6 (.681 UW).
Lambo was 4-2 (.666)
Rick 4-0 (1000%)
Sark 4-1 (.800)
Pete 6-0 (1000%)
DeBoer 2-0 (1000%)

And Jedd's 0-1 and got embarrassed.
Which is the primary reason why it's going to be ugly.
-
So James coached 3 times as many games which is why he is close to the mean over time
It's science
-
Not exactly sure what your point is, somehow trying to diminish Don James' record vs Cuog? That doesn't hold water. It's a much larger sample size and a dominant record vs an in-state rival. Nick Saban was 11-5 vs Auburn as Bama's coach, so, yeah.
-
Just fucking around looking at Wikipedia/Winsipedia.
We've had it really good against the Coug in recent history from Sark- DeBoer relative to the historical average- i.e., 12-2 over that stretch. Better than James era vs Coug.
Jedd really fucked it up last year and am hoping that was just a weird anomaly caused by massive attrition.
-
He started out 7-0 vs the Coug. Better than Petermen even.
Then you started having to break some umbrellas and/or throw Oly cans at the TV.
-
Iron Law - Don James gets worse the further away we get from his career at UW
-
James coached 18 of the first 85 games. 23 percent or so. Also interesting
-
Jedd plungered em in Pullman with Arizona 2 years ago. Jonah straight up the ass.
-
Corollary
And the worse the current coach does
-
Make sense? Dwag sense!1!!1
-
we’re not .700 all time against the Cuog?
JFC fire everyone
-
We were 0-1 against William Lonestar Dietz.
-
sark to DeBoer (Inc Jimmy) were .857.
That was a good run.Moving forward losing to the Coug should be inconceivable.
-
Auburn has multiple natties in football. They are not the coug.
-
The spread between the schools became a gulf under Petersen. You have to be retarded to lose to them now
-
Corky, Jimmy and Fisch.
-
UW hasn't lost to Wazzu when UW has been an 8 win team or better in decades. Translation: If you think UW is decent this year then they ain't losing
-
By Yella's rationale, Pete would have gone 18-0 vs CUOG
-
Ha. To Bama standards, they are inferior competitors. 18 national championships>whatever the fuck # Auburn has. BET.
-
My quip aside, it does highlight how significantly Cuog has fallen from their peskiness in the 80s and 90s, since it isn't like we set the world on fire in the 2000s. Cuog has popped a couple of years of course, and nearly beat MPJ, but they're not nearly the threat from the James era.
Now just need to make the Apple Cup a permanent home game.
-
It’s not hard to envision Pete going 18-0 against Coug. Now Cal on the other hand…
-
I hope so….. I don’t know why I feel like this game is gonna be close from start to finish
-
Those pesky Cougs of the 80s and 90s beat some decent to good UW teams.
Post 1997 Rylan Leaf, the only Coug team to beat a ranked UW squad was 2012 when we were #25. And that was just some Sark being Sark garbage.
-
People forget that Don James wasn't a giant turn the other cheek fucking pussy about the cougs.
-
Sounds like it might be time for the D-word
-
Why are we playing at Coug when last year's gayme was supposedly neutral
-
Because UW has done every single thing to help them outside of directly paying them 10 mil a year in cold hard cash.
-
Last year was the final year of the revenue-share agreement where UW and Wazzu would split home ticket sales. Since it was slated to go to Wazzu, both UW and Wazzu realized it would be much less than splitting Qwest Field or whatever it's called now.
This is the first year under a new contract where Wazzu keeps all their ticket sales and UW keeps all our ticket sales. So the series is now positive by keeping 70k ticket sales instead of splitting 105k with Wazzu
-
Makes sense considering that the cost of that game alone + room and board in Bellevue was the cost of a single 300 level season ticket.
Although I'm sure that German beer hall is lit af right now with the Mariners in serious contention.
