Jason Scheer asks posters to spread Fisch to UCLA rumors

Seattle sports media is sofa king stupid they actually asked Fish, "Is there any truth to the UCLA rumors?" Right, I'm going to be interested in a job that pays less, has less upper campus support, awful fan participation, and hasn't been relevant in CFB in decades. Sign me up!

There's approximately 2.5 jobs worth having in college football west of Texas. UCLA ain't one of them. USC has been struggling in the LA market for 15+ years now, you really think it's a good job to be their Clippers?
-
JFC that really happened?!
If I was Fisch I'd ask them why the fuck I just went through a shitty 6-7 season full of patchwork position groups just to maybe have 1 good season and then dip to a basketball school? To save a few flight down to LA for recruiting?
This is just what happens now but so, sooooo much cope from UCLA, Virginia Tech, and Arkansas right now.
-
It did. Not sure which one of the buffoons asked it: Softy, Kim, Nachos, Raley… take your pick, it's a room full of morons.
-
If memory serves me correctly, I believe UCLA was last relevant when they beat Miami maybe 25ish years ago in an upset.
-
UCLA hasn't been truly relevant since the 90s. They had some years in the 2000s and 2010s where they would beat big name teams early and then completely fall apart. They got a little juice under Mora but couldn't get over the good, but nowhere near great hump.
-
I just looked it up, UCLA beat Miami in the Orange Bowl to become 10-0, I’m sure they faded to close the season because Toledo was the HC. I remember hearing it on Atlanta sports radio driving because I had taken a leave of absence from Boeing for a court issue. Now that I think about it, that was the year we? beat ASU in Temple on a end of game’ish Hail Mary, can’t remember the TE that caught the ball but Huard tossed the ball. This was back before I gave up on the M’s and baseball when Sosa and McGuire were having their epic hr chase.

The late @DeLarry and I always yearned for Sark to Arkansas… So we could text "Sarkansas!" to each other.
Yes we were dorks.
-
There isn't a thread on it but the Arkansas video yesterday was fascinating. If you're a little SEC state with no major metro area then you're ENTIRE advantage was having athletes in your backyard that you can slip a thousand dollars to once in a while.
To admit, in a recorded booster event, that you aren't set up to win a national championship but that's okay because you can in basketball and baseball spells out the reality for 3/5 of that conference, at least.
With the situation being what it is, to admit to people that you ask millions of dollars from that you're basically Oregon State of the SEC is a big deal down there.

If it was Softy he probably planned it ahead of time with Fisch so he could have time for a comedic response. If it was Kimmy then it was probably serious
-
Maybe he’ll end up somewhere in Texsarkana?🤔🤔
-
It doesn't make sense at any professional level for Fisch to take a job that is worse in every respect. People are sofa king we todd it.

Which one?

Oregon's rise coincided with UCLA's fall. This does not get discussed much, but in terms of west coast powers the timing lines up.
Did the west ever have more than 3 strong programs at the same time? Would have had to be a combo of USC UW UCLA and Stanford back in the day.
UCLA is Maryland and Rutgers now @Sandra6. Hey look at our location!
-
Oh shut the fuck up. UCLA sucks. Oregon doesn't. There are 812 things that coincide with UCLA's downfall but all you care about is Oregon.
-
Three sound about right. UW, USC and UCLA were the bell cows of the 80’s and 90’s. Oregon replaced UW in the early 2000’s, Stanford officially replaced a revolving door of #3 teams when Harbaugh took over and then UW resoundingly replaced Stanford in 2016. When the PAC died it was UW, Oregon and USC.
-
-
UCLA and UW have always felt like the more connected progrums out west. Both will always be chasing USC and getting the best players out west that don't go to USC, somewhere around Top 15-25 nationally historically by metrics before UCLA fell off, both in big cities and universities that care a lot about academis. I think UCLA went the way of UW in the early-2000s of the school not caring about football success but they never really changed their minds on that the way UW did.
Oregon is just completely its own thing and their rise hurt UW way more than UCLA.

I saw that.

As universities UW strives to be peers with UCLA. When USC left for the B1G, the most distressing thing for UW was that UCLA was going to be moving up a league from them.
-
@Sources what say you fam? I call BS on the 2nd message coming from Walla Walla. I hope Fisch succeeds/LIPO mode but year two is B1G and it starts with wins on the road IN CONFERENCE.
After Jan.9.2024 and the following week, I honestly don’t give a shit if he is coaching here next year or 3 years from now. If he fails he should be out in 3 and if he succeeds he’s probably out in 3 anyway. I’m hoping for the best and believe our best chance to win the natty the remainder of my life is over. Also didn’t expect to get so close to the top after Pete quit.
