On the positive side, Crisco continues to show the ability to bring in talent and build an O line, if one assumes the hype about ND's d line. Regardless, Miami's O line pushed the ND front around. Actually, the D line controlled as well. I'll take that for as long as it lasts.

And once again, Crisco's inimitable (except so many other coaches share this trait) gift for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory was on full display. There is just something in his coaching DNA that causes his teams to lift their foot from the throat. They should have won that game easily. You come out of the half and go up two scores after eating up more than half of the 3rd Q, D holds and you're at 3rd and 1 and don't convert and have to punt. And then a 3 and out. And another. And another.

Something about him does this again and again and again. Script says when you control both lines of scrimmage, as they clearly did, and your QB isn't a retard, which Toothy didn't appear to be, you win going away.

Anyway, ND isn't the test. Miami isn't afraid of ND (like some other programs I know, [cough cough]). Georgia Tech and, apparently, Syracuse are scary.

was really surprised that Miami dominated up front on both sides. OL less so, Mario is always gonna be great there. But the DL dominated, too.

Irvin has been clean for a good while and has been taking care of his wife, who has dementia. He's also always been a massive and consistent supporter of his alma mater, through thick and thin. Whatever else is wrong at Miami, Michael Irvin isn't an issue.

That clip, btw, is of him after back to back sacks to close out the game. Any program should be so lucky to have a HOF'mer give that much of a shit about its program but few do.

I was too. They had some good D linemen in the rotation last year, but once one or two got injured they were exposed. The key for them will be if he really did something to address the D backfield, which was historically atrocious last year. They looked better but we don't know anything about CJ Carr or their passing game yet. If they are even 75% as bad as they were last year, it's going to be another long season.

The Andre Brown catch and the Cleveland Gary non-fumble fumble were both in the 1988 "Catholics vs. Convicts" game. Same game.

Irish fans frequently trot out the "what about the Andre Brown catch?" nonsense and have polluted youtube and social media with it even though there is no angle showing it to not be a catch and the ref was standing right in a position to make the call. They don't, however, trot out the Cleveland Gary clip because it was such a shitty call.
