The future of The Tug Tavern

We just finished up our annual donation period. I am very appreciative of the support from the main football board. I did not expect to sell out of the beer goblets but it happened ($200 donations). Considering some of the issues we've had (UW-related and technical-related) I am grateful.

But I am disappointed in the lack of support from The Tug. Now, the Tug has historically served a good purpose. Prior to Elon buying Twitter, The Tug was literally the only social platform I was aware of that allowed for pro-Trump and conservative thought. That gave it it's value. I was willing to take the slings and arrows in order for it to exist.

However, it came with a cost. We lost 15-20 quality posters (and untold numbers of lurkers) who were offended that I allowed a platform for pro-Trump speech. I was the recipient of some angry words and attempts to get us shut down. These people left and never came back. I was even threatened with abduction and ritualistic killing (by someone anonymous of course) because I was posting conservative content.

As I step back and review everything, I can't help but ask myself, "What good is it to have the Tug Tavern if its hurting the overall site and many of the people in there aren't going to support with so much as an annual $29 donation?" There are people in here who boast about their wealth and are on the boards seven days a week but can't kick in even $10 a year.

I'm not going to make any changes until 2026 at the earliest, but I want to be open and forthright about my concerns.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!
