Interesting. 10% price increase with a 15% tariff.

Sony of America ate the other 5%. But …I thought I wasn’t going to have to pay any price increases? What happened???? It’s like I’m being charged a 10 % consumption tax?

More likely Sony of Japan eats it as Japan has higher income tax rates than the US does. At least that’s how they should do it.

By the way Bob, just for your future negotiations, the company where the FDI is located and where the tariff is being supplied is on the hook for the Tariff.

Meaning, in this case that import fee is coming out of Sony of America the importer and not Sony of Japan. I don’t want you to go to jail for tax evasion.

Big international companies like Sony have entire departments just to deal with optimizing transfer prices between entities to get the costs where it makes the most sense for taxes.

Man I’ve got to hand it to Trump though. He’s figured out a way to implement a consumption tax and you liberals are pretty happy to pay it!

Libertarians were always for a consumption tax vs an income tax. Now we just need to find out what that blended consumption tax is that has been imposed on us.

Rich folks can change income tax to gains and avoid income tax which is why Buffet always pops off about his secretary paying more income tax

You can't hide what you consume and rich people consume more so they would pay more. Could be worth a shot
