Tariffs protects an importing countries industries by making imported goods less appealing.
If you’re saying prices are not going to go up because importers are gonna absorb the tariffs, then the exporters are gonna laugh their ass off and you haven’t punished anything.If you’re trying to lower the trade deficit and have Americans consume more American made goods and tariffs are making imports less competitive, then prices of those goods HAS to go up!

You’re some low-level guy at Amazon. You know nothing. I deal with exporting US made goods every day. Getting requests from China and South America now in oil and gas and hiring additional plant workers almost every week.
