Non majors have to share a thread. In the news - kiss the ring bitch
The 77 Open Championship is among the greatest of all time. Basically a 36 hole match between Watson and Nicklaus
Fuck Aaron Rai and his OJ gloves and iron covers
My favorite on course reporter.
He was in the last group at Torrey and melted. Lost a playoff in Mexico
Won a 5 hole playoff yesterday. He's arrived
Talent is there for sure. Even with the complete opposite bodies, his swing reminds me of Zalatoris’s. Pray for our Afrikaner’s back.
Fat fights injuries. 1965 Jack
Yeah fat helps. All these young guys are doing that Zalatoris/Nieman move where you kick out the left hip and straighten the left leg way in front of the ribcage and flatten the spine angle simultaneously. It’s very effective but just looks very painful. There won’t be any Louis O swings in the future.
I agree. I'm not sure 30 yards is worth it
By 2019 Tiger was so battered he had to swing easy. He could have done that his whole career and still won because of his irons and putting
Kids today always have a wedge in hand and miss the green
You just need to win once every two years and you keep your card for life basically. Consistency is not rewarded with the points and money.
Or just get sponsors exemptions for every signature event like Ricky and Speith.
Jack hit it 341 with wood in 1963
He invented the 3 wood off the tee. Boring but effective
Compared to today's average American male, Jack was downright svelte.
Take it to the MAHA board.
The pride of Murietta and the Nicklaus design Bear Creek
A star just because. 15 years on tour. Its way too comfortable out there. The original all exempt at 60 players was controversial. Jack didn't like any
Monday qualifying was an event in itself. Would make a good movie
Second strongest field of the year in the tune up for the Open Championship
Love it when the Americans get over to Scotland and rules officials don’t give them shit.
Agree. I have about had it with sprinklers in the deep rough letting guys drop in the fairway. And every course has so many temporary immovable obstructions that they get a drop more than not when off line
Play it where it lies. Rub of the green
Rickie got a free drop within a hazard last week because of a wire like 75 yards out that would have only been in play if he pulled his shot by 30 yards. It’s beyond disgusting. Also disgusting is Scottie sitting over the ball for a full minute waiting for the perfect wind to pull the trigger.
If you want old school the Golf Channel is showing the final round of the 84 Open at St. Andrew's
Seve Watson and Langer
Repeats at 8:30
A few weeks ago I was having my car worked on and read an article she wrote on Rory that I never would have read otherwise save for waiting on my car. Her writing is outstanding.
I agree with Rory here. Also think that golf is one if not the best sport at appreciating the long haul. Lot of one hit or one year wonders. Those that stay get the glory
Another 25 year old bomber appears. When he shot 61 on Thursday I thought he was a European player. Actually a PGA Tour member and one time winner at an opposite field event
Rory had a chance to take over Player of the Year. If he or Scottie win the Open its settled for the winner
All Scottie does is finish top 10 every week he doesn't win
I don't like Procore as a platform. It is a symptom of how bad construction has got
Napa is one of the better events even with a shitty field. Cool course that is basically completely brown and concrete every year when they play it. Big opportunity for PGA if they don’t fuck it up.
I give JT a lot of shit, partially because I like him and he has under achieved. JT and Homa were the only two Ryder Cuppers to play in the 2023 Napa event and that was a talking point after Rome.
JT was also the only American to play in the 2018 French Open, which was at the same course as the Ryder Cup where the US got blown out. He was probably the best American player that year at the Ryder cup. So he fucking cares and should be picked even if his current play doesn’t really support it.
I know that Brooksie hasn't done shit in majors but he did win a major at Bethpage and is a big game hunter. Worth a look
My mom got me a subscription to SI when I was in third grade and I kept it until the internet finally killed it along with the kind of woke bullshit that has three out of four writers trashing Doral because it is owned by Trump
There was a classic WGC at Doral where Tiger and Phil went head to head on Sunday which really didn't happen that much. Great venue and a great tourney that goes back to the roots
8.5 is where the number should be at. Shinnecock is easily the major of the year for 2026..
I’m taking the over. He won’t catch Tiger, but he’s getting to double digits. Rory and Spieth were always whiny bitches, even during their best stretches. Scottie is different. Phil fucked himself countless times by being too aggressive and missing putts under pressure. Scottie doesn’t do that. He’s maybe the most controlled player I’ve ever seen. He’s so good, he doesn’t have to try hero shots. He’s boring as fuck, which is why I really struggle rooting for him, but he’s exceptional. I’m struggling to come up with a comp from another sport. I guess I’d go with Greg Maddux. He doesn’t do anything that makes you say “holy shit, how did he do that?”, he just pounds the zone with monotonous consistency.
Only Jesus will stop Scottie
Jesus no help Scottie with the curve ball
After the 2000 season Jack said Tiger was better than he was and if he stayed healthy and interested he'd break the record
Tiger is still interested but didn't stay healthy
Scottie probably won't break down but will he stay interested is the question
Major talk and FredEx payout
