He made some questionable selections here
I would have had Mitch Levy #1 and Wayne Cody at #2. New York Vinnie at #3. Danny, Dave and Moore at #4. Softy probably wouldn't even be on the list. Jim had Groz and Gas at #1? Hmmm.
Comments
They look like Jim Rome out there groz
No Fabulous Sports Babe?
?
He had her at #4.
This all just reminds of me of listening to the Apple Cup pregame last year and how cringe and unprofessional it got between softy and this coug host that works with Furness. Noticeably unprofessional and weird and everything that sucks about the apple cup.
Also, remember when Furness pretended to host a Stanford pregame show when he had to fill in on a UW game, just so that like 10 cougs listening could have a real laugh over it? Imagine doing that to a fucking partner, that's insane that he kept his job.
Hawk Talk is unlistenable. The Mariners are so pathetic: OH PEACH NIGHT FOR THE DUMPER!!! LULZZZ. Kraken are already nothing. Sonics aren't coming back now that half the NBA ownership wants out.
Seattle sports radio can be summed up by the image Softy wearing a Pacers shirt at the Emerald Queen Casino drunk off of San Juan seltzer.
I am going to make a controversial take here because I know how this group leans.
Softy is totally the "Douche" from "Crazy Ira and The Douche" on Parks and Recreation. I mean, if he was in any other market it would only be contempt and hate.
Having said that, I've been listening to podcasts from him for a long time, and he does occasionally have some intellectually honest opinions on Seattle Sports and the Seattle sports fans. Given that he is bought and sold by KJAR, that's not the worst thing in the world.
I wish we had Petros, and Softy is a goober. But, he is our Goober.
I dunno. He only got "honest" after UW dropped KJR for a couple of years, and then when they came back he got the DeBoer years and didn't really have do much other than doog incoherently.
Hated Groz with Gas forever. I listen to the Softy interviews podcast because he’s got guys like Petros, Kevin Harlen and Florio … when he has Hugh rambling on and on about coverages while going on about his fucking spreadsheet while watching the all 22 coaches video, I typically want to punch a hole in my eardrums and peace out.
Unrelated but maybe related - wasn't Moore just posting crying because his wife got fired for drinking before a meeting? Was that some kind of deep fake?
She got fired for having a margarita a few hours before a company meeting
I listened to Groz and Gas for Groz with Gasmails. Shout out to Smokey McPot and the Kazaman…
Softy also called for Ty to get the fourth year which led to 0-12. Then when Sark came, Softy questioned the mental health of anyone not fully on board, which was a shot at Husky Half Brains and later HcH.
Just about all the Seattle sports radio hosts suck for one reason or another,
Softy’s a huge douche but he’s all we’ve got for hosts that give uw air time.
Wayne Cody Sportsline on KIRO was on in the 70s. The OG
The Sports Babe showed up from South Florida in time for the 1991 dust up with the Canes. She was a master pf pissing people off to get them to listen. Kind of an art form
I think Mitch was the best of the rest. He said the Pac 10 played beach football. Was not that wrong by the time he was here. There was a Michael dude in between
As someone pointed out the entire industry and Gas and Groz committed suicide over Ty
Cody was also on throughout much of the 80s, that's when I listened to him
The Throbber is old enough to remember that Bob Blackburn had a shift on KJR when it first started out circa whenever in the late 80s. Keith Shipman (husky highlight show/KCPQ ding ding) took a shift. Don't remember who else was in the original crew but want to say maybe Kevin Callabero, too.
For the Spokane guys, Patchin Lukins and Osso was entertaining. Two grumpy old men and a fat guy.
I kind of hate that shitty cringe radio DJs will soon be gone forever. Adam Carolla sometimes talks about the pinnacle of Coors Light voice shock jock shit with The Nasty Man. I'm sure he'd fly well in Seattle these days:
Cody was larger than life in many ways
KJR was among the first nationally to do all sports
Seattle has lagged behind Portland for college football talk forever. Embarrassingly so. Part of it is yes, there's just 1 pro team here in a non-NFL sport. But there are just a lot more young professional cougs, ducks, and beavs that prioritize college football over everything except maybe NFL betting, for some shows. They will do a lot of the some same gimmicks to get people's attention with hosting events and stuff, but they just aren't as much of an entitled sloppy fucking mess like all these KJR people. They cover UW and WSU almost more than Seattle does, so the exhausting Oregon and Oregon State coverage is a lot more palatable.
They also aren't as embracing of transplant hosts that grew up on teams halfway across the country.
That guy is still on the air.
