My favorite places to eat on the Ave in the early 90s are all gone, presumably:
Kiku Tempura House...huge chicken/rice bowls for $4.25.
Poco Loco...big, saucy burritos. I've had thousands since then but, at least in my memory, they were the best.
Viet/Thai/Chi...this was a little place around 45th that didn't have a name that I knew of, but the sign on the sidewalk said just what I typed. Very good, basic rice and chicken dishes costing about $4.
Tandor Indian...they had a Sunday buffet that was the ultimate hangover cure.
Atlantic Street Pizza...right on the other side of the alley at my house in Brooklyn. Spicy, mouth roof shredding, personal size pizzas for like $6 iirc.

I worked at Sea Galley in Kirkland as a busboy in the mid 80’s I ate so much mud pie and rice pilaf and mahi mahi. Good times.
