A pair of freshmen for the Washington men’s basketball team will be on the world stage as JJ Mandaquit and Hannes Steinbach will compete for their home countries at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup.
Mandaquit will suit up for Team USA, competing in Group D with Australia, Cameroon and France.
Steinbach and Team Germany will square off with China, Canada and Slovenia in Group B.
Group play action begins on Saturday in Lausanne, Switzerland, with Germany taking on Slovenia at 5:30 a.m. PT and the U.S. battling Australia at 8:15 a.m.

I was on a business flight to Frankfurt earlier this year and the Liverpool FC U19 team was on it going to play some cup match. I sat next to the team doctor (nervous flyer - which is a strange vocation to choose…) and he said a couple guys are making 20,000 Pounds/Week. The looked like just boys, it was insane.
