Genius
Over used but it fits
-
In his case it very much fits.

Every Thursday my mother in law comes over to take my son to school and when I get home The Beach Boys are still playing on my Alexa after she leaves. I leave it on most of the time. Over 60 years. Talk about an impact.
-
For my fitting … this is not only the best song by The Beach Boys but its on my short list of best songs ever …
-
May be a good idea to have an impromptu bracket of the best Beach Boys songs in honor of the great Brian Wilson
-
I'm off in the weeds this week, so it will be a half assed effort.
-
You have one job …
That's running Yellow Piss's room …
Get with it
-
Sloop John B.

I could never get into the Beach Boys or understand their appeal. Nevertheless, RIP.
-
You need the Beach Boys on that wall to stop the British Invasion

I'm trying to figure out the other 3 besides Dylan.
-
Don Henley
-
Dylan, Neil Young, and probably Paul Simon.
-
Interestingly enough, the Beach Boys achieved their greatest commercial and critical success after the Beatles landed at JFK.
-
Beach Boys v Beatles was real.
Surf v Mersey
-
Being born in Surf City, USA I was always torn on this one.

@YellowSnow . You are going to hate me for this, because I recall you not liking my "lukewarmness" (and that's me being generous on this day of mourning). But are Dylan, Springsteen, and Neil Young the other three?
-
I was putting Paul Simon ahead of Springsteen. Dylan and Neil Young are locks, but the 4th spot was open for debate.
-
I can get behind Paul Simon.
We can hopefully agree to disagree on Dylan and Young - I don't put them in the same universe/plane of existence as Brian Wilson. I can think of 5 living "musicians" I would pay to see instead of those two.
But - I see we both picked Sloop John B. We have common ground.
-
Dylan and Lennon/McCartney are the most influential songwriters of the past 65 years, easily.
Jagger/Richards are by far my favorite, however.
-
By the way I missed the north American part
Definitely Neil Young
-
What are we using to define "musician" in this thread?
-
Triangle and tambourine skills and above.
-
Does no one like Billy Joel?
I'm personally not sure how I'd rank them, since I appreciate the music from these guys but don't have strong feelings about order of rank. Dylan likely defaults to #1 of living Norte Americano musicians for me.
-
When it comes to music I lump the 51st state in with America. Closer to us than the Brits.
Plus Neil was essentially a LA musician as opposed to a Canadian one.
Neil certainly dominates Dylan in the 1970s bracket.
-
I love Billy Joel, but he's not anywhere close North America Mt Rushmore.
I give the nod to Paul Simon based on a 20 plus year run of commercial and artistic relevance running all the way from the Sounds of Silence through Graceland.
I'd be inclined to have Fogerty on here, but their time in the limelight was so short.
-
No love for Dwag David Foster?
-
This bored is old and white.
I vote for Eminem. I'm sure he can at least play the triangle.
