My Friday night drinking was a disaster this week. Picked up five beers, two that I know are amazing, three I've never had. Went exploring through the three I'd never had, and it got increasingly disastrous:
1.) Banana Chocolate Big Bad Baptist: Clear cut case of the adjuncts making the beer worse instead of better. Wasn't terrible, and got better as I drank it thanks to buzz setting in, just not that amazing for a $15.50 can of beer.
2.) Cinnamon Roll Big Bad Baptist: I loves me some BBB, but this was two for two letdowns. This one surpassed "meh" and was at the point that I felt like I was working to finish it.
3.) Biscotti Bourbon County: This was the biggest surprise, as Goose Island tends to not fuck around. And I loves me some biscotti stout usually. This beer was downright fucking disgusting. Poured the last of it out.
The beers that I passed on for these three disasters were a 2023 Bourbon County Backyard Stout (mulberries, boysenberries, marionberries) that's fucking amazing and a Ladybird Stout from Kings and Daughters (vanilla, cocoa nibs, coconut) that's also fucking amazing. Some other day, I guess.

The Puppy Love was actually pretty damn tasty. Be sure to roll the can before pouring as I missed out on a little sludge at the bottom. Really good, though, and at 6% you don't get sick of it.
I saw that 23 berried Bourbon County in a cooler recently and thought hard but didn't pull the trigger. Maybe I'll go back and get it.

Knocking back a Fast Fashion while making chili. One of the breweries I regrettably couldn't get to while in Bend a couple summers back. Highly recommend.

Kona Big Wave is the choice for summer session beer. Beats the hell out of any macro lager.

Had a fancy Matchless coffee stout last night that was great. Not a syrupy mess, not overbearing with some chocolate aftertaste, actually perfect for the weather right now.

I wouldn't even say it's better than Vortex.
But it just reinforces that Ft George is one of the best breweries in the entire PNW.

Pfriem is probably the best craft brewery in the PNW however. -
Alll depends on style of beer at this point. I could pick it a dozen "best brewery" based on what I'm drinking. Pfriem is on the overall top tier, though. Many good things there.

I stay in good river every year. Their beer scene is better than almost everywhere else.

I usually stay across the river from Hood River on the Washington side at least once each year. Girlfriend's family has a house there. Not a big brewery guy but will have to check out.

Pfriem is outstanding. They've seriously increased distribution into northern Idaho grocery stores and I'm grateful.

I like their color coded can system. When it's hot out and I'm on the river or golfing it's White Cans. When I want to mess with @chuck 's golf game it's Black cans of IPA with high ABV.

We stay in Skamania lodge a couple times a year. I've seen Fabio a bunch in their breakfast thing. One time the waitress came over to us crying because he knew her pretty well and her husband had just died and he said he was going to pay for the casket, or some really substantial part of it.
If we have our kids with us we stay on the Hood River side, because despite their effort Skamania still kind of sucks for kid activities.
Thunder Bay Brewing in Cascade Locks is the place I most recommend because it's such a nice facility, and in the summer there used to be all sorts of other fans to talk to, whether quooks or Cal/Stanford bros trying to windsurf/hike or whatever.
In general I just have had a way better time in that area than Bend, but I don't ski or care for a lot of the stuff in that area which is a big reason.

It's a very cool area and incredibly unpopulated on the Washington side. GF's family just has a place there because it's mega cheap and they love wine country, which is about all that's there. There's a mega dive bar in Klickitat that randomly has really good steak at a great price if you can accept the small town service and guys staring at you vibe.

I've boycotted the lodge since they replaced the golf course with putt putt, AstroTurf par 3s, nature trails, zip lines, and all the other faggy stuff. FTG.
I really miss having that course as an option. Some years I played it 20-30 times.

I picked up a couple of their fresh hop releases last week and was kinda disappointed by them. I don't think their beer is as good as it was a few years back.

In honor of the Ducks SICK win I had to go to @46XiJCAB favorite spot and pay 60$ for 3 beers and a 4 pack that is literally brewed by the same company.
No movies the last weekend. Silent Hill f was the Halloween game this year. Okay so far. 1960's Japan for horror is great.
