My cogs were about 12.5% of MSRP before any of this, which is about 2% lower than the comparable benchmark. Could get it to 12% if I wanted to. You get preferential treatment from suppliers if they make more money off of you, which helps shorten supply chain by a month or so. That is worth more than the .5% on cost.

Smarter companies already used this leverage before any of this. Sounds like you were being played before. The tariffs didn’t change anything in your scenario. You were weak.
