Whew … you guys dodged a bullet. 4k for an iPhone?! Not just yet … Trump saved you … for now. I wonder how much that Ford F150 is gonna cost in the near future … dollars and cents, dollars and cents folks …
There are still tariffs on iPhones. These “exemptions” aren’t even unique to China.
You gals don’t even try to be honest anymore. Leftism is living in a post-truth world. I do notice that the pathological liar @HHusky agrees with you, which confirms you’re wrong.
Wasn't me that is opposed to Trump's tariffs because cheap Chinese goods and ripping off of American IP is bad for Americans but good for the Euros. That's for you and your paper of record to explain.
Everyone knows there's still a tariff, did that go over your head? Yeah, it did.
Trump blinked and backtracked on the extra tariffs because he knows that (1) people love their tech (2) people are very price sensitive and he knew he wasn't going to get away with it, for now.
Tariffs are a tax on the consumer, the point of tariffs is to protect or level the playing field for domestic production or manufacturing. The whole point is that if incoming products or materials become more expensive for the importer then it pressures consumers to choose domestic products in lieu.
Tell me, are iPhones made here? Ask any Economist, is Apple gonna start building factories and start making iPhones in the USA … within 4 years? Are Americans going to be making iPhones at way below min wage, no benefits, 14 hrs a day? No vacation?
There are these reasons why iPhones are made in China. There are reasons why Apple moved their manufacturing but "designed in Cupertino" products to China.
Jesus, you knee jerk your response, makes no sense, then you make sweeping remarks just to make yourself feel "smrt" … I tell you what Chrissy, Economics doesn't care about your feelings … fuck your feelings … 4k iPhones will. That's why Trump blinked and took it off the table … because with the original tariffs iPhones are still going to go up in price in response and we'll see how Americans dig a little deeper.
Because with 4k iPhones and expensive electronics including your 77" flat screens and shit … tell me, what do you have in your home that is made in America? What do you have is made in China?
Lastly, what do you have that's made in China … that can be made in the USA that the consumer will switch without noticing a difference? Right now?
I don't care who you voted for or who you hate … really … but don't shout out your ignorance so obviously, that's embarrassing.
Obviously nothing can be done. Toss in the car manufacturing moving back to the US and other manufacturers announcing big US expansions. The issue with iPhones and other labor intensive consumer electronics isn't to get the manufacturing back into the US it is to get it out of China. HTH.
How did Trump “blink” if these exemptions aren’t limited to China, which already had tariffs placed on these products?
Tariffs are a tax on the consumer
I was unaware the consumers are forced to purchase products from specific countries. I must have missed the federal iPhone mandate.
Your rant has been addressed repeatedly over the last month and it’s fucking tiresome dealing with ignorant people like you. Take it up with Stephen Miller or Larry Kudlow on this “blinking” bullshit which is also call … negotiating.
Man, talking economics in a football forum … Derek, you must be smiling in silence.
WestLinn, the point about trying to dislodge manufacturing "out of China" is silly. C'mon man. So why is Trump trying to tariff the whole fucking world? Where's all the manufacturing going to go in a blink of an eye while Americans hurt with price increases every single day? Apple has been trying to move manufacturing/diversify in lieu of these potential global chain problems that have just become real … they moved to India for a little and it's been a whole fucking decade. It's not that easy.
… and Chissy, you've been exposed to this information for awhile now and you are none the wiser … if you can't understand what the adults are talking about then maybe the Minecraft forums are more your style. KISS, keep it simple because it's less stress for you.
Here, i'll spoon feed you for awhile. Here's some people talking about Apple specifically and how it relates to the Global Supply Chain and Trump's actions.

Appears your brother Steve cares.
More gibberish
Keep working on that messaging losers
Nothing can be done
except when Trump does something
and it's always bad somehow
And the sun never sets on the British Empire, of course.
Roots for the away team as always. Probably a big Qin Haiyang fan.
Why do you hate a successful USA, Margaret? Is it because your wife (she does) actually makes the money?
They convinced a ton of fat women to get comm degrees and now they are “the party of the educated”
Don't forget all the Marxist victim studies degrees they've churned out.
I wonder what Starbucks student debt per employee figure is.
A very poor interpretation of what I said, but one can hardly think of Chrissey without thinking of the very poor.

Eh, not your best effort. Pay your share here, Freeloader.

Leftard logic from the NYT. Seems like they hired the dazzler. Chinese exports to the US good. Chinese exports to the EU is bad. America Last.
Just wondering how dumb you'd have to be to struggle with the logic here.
