Lots of shelf space in the retail and grocery stores for cold and flu medicines. Those meds don’t sell themselves.

Shall we now call it the Get the Flu Shot instead of telling people to “get the flu shot?”

20 years ago the flu shot was always just for old ppl. Then I learned they make the shot 6 months before they know the antigen.

Now I’m like calories in that old beer commercial (or what ever it was). “Never haven’t, never will.”

Every vaccine seems to have nasty shit in it and poor effectiveness. Prove me wrong. My newest grandchild got ZERO vaccines. Glad his parents have goptten the message.

Not peer reviewed yet, but still. An initial conclusion of a material 27% increase in the flu after being vaccinated should be getting a huge amount of national press and some serious discussion about the vaccination by our supposed elite CDC employees. What we are getting from US leftards is a screaming fit about Bobby cleaning house and the CDC and NIH and putting in some actual non-bought off medical people. Just like no national discussion about the clot shot still being recommended for everyone despite strong evidence that it tears apart the human immune system and has serious adverse events from heart infection to cancer production. I would find it interesting that no Tug leftard has expressed the slightest concern about these issues but then if your life goal is to be a political hack for the dems then you don't need to have any interest in math, science, history or economics.

medRxiv Effectiveness of the Influenza Vaccine During the 2024-2025 Respiratory Viral Season

View ORCID Profile Nabin K. Shrestha, Patrick C. Burke, Amy S. Nowacki, Steven M. Gordondoi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2025.01.30.25321421This article is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed [what does this mean?]. It reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice.

    ABSTRACT

Background The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season.

Methods Employees of Cleveland Clinic in employment in Ohio on October 1, 2024, were included. The cumulative incidence of influenza among those in the vaccinated and unvaccinated states was compared over the following 25 weeks. Protection provided by vaccination (analyzed as a time-dependent covariate) was evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression.

Results Among 53402 employees, 43857 (82.1%) had received the influenza vaccine by the end of the study. Influenza occurred in 1079 (2.02%) during the study. The cumulative incidence of influenza was similar for the vaccinated and unvaccinated states early, but over the course of the study the cumulative incidence of influenza increased more rapidly among the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. In an analysis adjusted for age, sex, clinical nursing job, and employment location, the risk of influenza was significantly higher for the vaccinated compared to the unvaccinated state (HR, 1.27; 95% C.I., 1.07 – 1.51; P = 0.007), yielding a calculated vaccine effectiveness of −26.9% (95% C.I., −55.0 to −6.6%).

Conclusions This study found that influenza vaccination of working-aged adults was associated with a higher risk of influenza during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season, suggesting that the vaccine has not been effective in preventing influenza this season.

Summary Among 53402 working-aged Cleveland Clinic employees, we were unable to find that the influenza vaccine has been effective in preventing infection during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season.
