The funding is "paused". From what I have been told, "paused" means that there is some discernable fraud but the entire program is not fraudulent. They need some time to figure out what is legit and what isn't. From what we have learned thus far, democrats have figured out 1000's of ways to defraud the taxpayers and this could be one of them so I am all for rooting out the lefts corruption even if it means a short-term inconvenience.

On a side note, my wife and I volunteer once a month for a "food bank". We help prepare foods that are going to be given out as meals twice a week during the weekday. Its through our church and other churches in the area. Only once did I help distribute the lunches and I was verrryyy disappointed in what I saw. Starter jackets, a cell phone in every hand, $125 Nikes, etc. I believe in feeding those in need but I don't believe in handouts to people who clearly are irresponsible and who should be stepping aside to let the people in real need step up to the plate for help. That goes for the 90% of the homeless population that just prefers to live that way. We shouldn't be feeding them.

I get that, but food banks are hurting... seams there has to be a better way.

See, what I’m wondering is how much of my tax dollars are actually going to feeding people versus how much is going to some director’s wakeboard boat payments.

Everybody has a sob story. Emotional blackmail is one of the lowest forms of debate and it doesn’t work on me.

Food banks are hurting because of their own administrative bloat and government regulation. Watch what would happen if you set one up with no overhead in parking lot without permitting and actually delivered a product.

I volunteered at one in Tualatin during my suburb days for a few years and it was pretty much 100% run on donations from private donors and also food donations from the local Fred Meyer’s.

I’m unaware of any federal grant, our Mormon next door neighbors ran it, and that church pretty much funded it as far as I could tell along with local businesses. It wasn’t any sort of money-making operation.

A commie nurse friend of my wife spent a lot of time volunteering at a food shelter. Big heart, no common sense. She asked me if I wanted to help out. Said I would be a server. I asked her why they didn't have one of the food recipients spoon mash potatoes on the plates in return for a free meal. No response. When free is not accompanied by any responsibility or accountability then it is going to be abused and there is no movement forward. I realize that there are deserving people who need assistance. Currently there are proposals to get soda pop out of the food stamp program. Leftists and the soda pop lobby are screaming.

If SNAP has to exist, then limit it to like 10 actually healthy foods (meat, eggs, butter, olive oil, sugar free yogurt, veggies). I’d even consider giving it more funding if that was the case. Trump and RFK should counter with that and watch everyone explode.

Sincethey can now use snap cards at for anything it needs to be seriously reformed. Shouldn't be able to use it in a titty bar.

What about the hard working pot heads on food stamps that need to visit 7-11 for a quality frozen pizza at 2:00 AM? That is a high ROI use of federal taxpayer expenditures.
