It beats having low hopes

UW has a potential star quarterback, every skill guy is returning except for Giles (we will see if his replacement is any good in that role), the O Line should actually be good/experienced, not just serviceable, and our biggest question of D/DL we at least made an excellent hire in getting a big boy DC that we should actually expect to be able to answer those questions his first year.
And unlike last year, the conference around us has a bunch of teams that had to reload from having a bunch of senior-laden rosters.

I don't anticipate the run defense being good. It should at least be somewhat better though. Pepa and Thompson should be an upgrade over Valdez/Bandes + hopefully Davis is a year better and the Parkers get healthy. A healthy Durfee if it ever happens I think could help on the edge as last year we were playing really small guys there a lot against running teams.
Having an offense that can actually score points would do wonders for the run defense too. Last year we played a lot of crappy offenses with shitball QBs but our offense could never score enough to put any pressure on them to have to do anything but just run the ball.

DL health is the biggest X factor/question mark going into the year. I feel okay (not great, but okay) about the OL.

The OL at the very least has going for it that I don't think it could be worse than last year. Hopefully a healthy McCree and having Willis can push Azzopardi out of the starting lineup. I never understood why he was supposedly a 4 star portal pickup but even if he wasn't he was a huge disappointment. Also hoping L Hatchett not coming back from injury will make a difference and not just be a doog narrative.
