Big 8 Nebraska v Oklahoma was absolute must see TV.

Well, except for the years when Oklahoma was on probation and couldn’t be on TV.

'83 Nebraska with 66 rushing TDs! I remember they beat somebody 84-14 and my eyes popped out of my head trying to comprehend scoring so many points.

83 Nebraska was considered the best team ever going into the Orange Bowl against a gritty bunch of 'Canes from Miami

I don't remember who won. Maybe @creepycoug can help here

1973 UCLA beat UW 62-13 and lost to Nebraska 40-13. Only Pac team on the list

UCLA had lost three straight to UW and Sonny including a 61-20 beat down that was UW revenge for a 57-14 loss in 1969 during the boycott

Wild times and college football not NFL lite

Mike Rozier was a stud in 83 for Nebraska. Watching the 84 Orange Bowl most of the us college football fans were wondering when 🌽 were going to kick in. Had Osborne went for the tie they win the natty. When Tom went for the win he cemented the Nebraska classy moniker in my book. I myself preferred the 85 Orange Bowl, I’m not classy. Both years were big upsets for our young dawgs.

Lol. Teams had about the same level of NFL talent in the starting lineups. Husker lost for two reasons:

With a true freshman at middle lb and their best defensive player out of the game, Miami still managed to do just enough to slow their rushing attack on D. It might not seem that way, but you have to know that Nebraska averaged over 7 yards a carry for the season and just fucking steamrolled everyone on the ground. Against the Canes they averaged 5, and if you take away the 20 yard fumblerooski it's under 5. Couple that with a Miami pro style passing attack and receivers that made Husker think it was on Mars, along with a rushing game of their own, and the upset isn't that absurd.

The fumblerooski on 3rd and 5 was trickeration even by today's standards, and they fucking needed it, as it would turn out, to keep it within reach of a tie. I was at that game, and more than half the stadium was corn and they were fucking puckered at that point in the game.

Great game. IDGAF if Nebraska wins the natty with a tie. It would always be a tie. Sure, some people desperate for validation count natties however they can get them. But that would have forever gone down with an asterisk IMO and Nebraska is a proud program. He made the right call. Canes have left three natties on the table, at least. Doesn't matter.

It was definitely a good game, I can vividly remember watching it which is strange since my memory isn’t great these days.

My parents were going through a horrible divorce. Our family ate dinner that night at a Red Robin in Seattle, with the Orange Bowl on the TV overhead. My mom was having such a meltdown that management said if she didn't calm down we would be asked to leave.
