The US is the most asymmetrically tariffed nation on earth. We were promised by the experts this would make goods cheaper. Instead it's mostly depressed wages while the elites have captured the majority of profits from cost savings on labor. All while performing rent seeking using the government.
I'm very pro free trade. We are 1,000 miles away from that right now.
Targeted tariffs and bilateral negotiating makes sense when you are the 800lb gorilla in the room.

It makes them build factories here to sell all those goods. Ask the big American auto maker that just canceled their Mexico plant and are building it to Detroit now IIRC because Trump was going to slap tariffs in Mexican made cars. Tarrifs force that or they forgo the U.S. market.

You have made your supposed point. Prices may go up. But you have expressed no concern about unfair trade treatment and how we fix that. No comment on our total reliance on the chicoms for our pharmaceuticals and how to fix that. If you don't like getting phucked in the ass then you need to do something about it rather than it saves you some money on trying to date women.
