To keep up with all the winning

California taking the scoreboard as expected.
-
Well, since the federal government owns 48% of California succession might not go like they planned.
-
Perfect. Democrats won't win another national election. I can live with that.
They are already bankrupt as a state and will never ever afford the retirements they have voted for themselves in the public sector and is being paid for off the backs of the private sector. Taxes will balloon and more and more corporations will leave. They have already lost a lot of Hi Tech, wait until the democrats look at the remaining group and tell them they are going to pay for the states retirement packages through doubling tax rates. The produce produced in CA will now have to compete with added tariffs. No one in any state will have to pay for their fucked up man made and natural disasters they clearly aren't prepared for. They can open their borders again! National defense? Hello neighboring states, you just got more bases and income.
More than anything, none of us will have to pay for the states massive welfare rolls.
-
Let California secede officially and then invade them and make them a territory. I’d love to see the Leftists who would vote for the secession form their own military as GOO voters and profitable businesses leave in droves as refugees.
All the benefits of California without them affecting national elections, plus the kooks can stay in our new territory.
May as well before China does it.
it’s difficult out to believe that people in charge can be so reactionary, but that’s today’s Democrat party.
-
Can we just ditch SF, LA, Portland and Seattle while making the remainder the Great State of Lincoln?
-
Secession talk is retarded.
But California pays in more than it receives back. Pretending that isn't true doesn't change the fact.
-
California is either not as rich or powerful relative to everyone as you claim or they are insane for wanting to continue to dilute their own power.
-
California would be harmed by leaving the US. The US would be harmed by California leaving. Pretending there would be a winner in this scenario is fucking stupid.
-
It’s cute that you think a rational USA would not overtake California within months of whatever fever dream secession your crazy Dem leaders apparently think they can pull off with no push back.
Will you be signing up for the California military, Rambo?
-
Not arguing that at all. Posing the question that why does the richest state always want more federal government spending and centralized power? Wouldn’t it be in their theoretical benefit to have less central Federal government and they get to keep more of their own money and more control over their own decisions? Seems like some smart person will make that argument someday and do well with it.

Fever dream obsessed poaster invents thoughts that no one expressed.
Get yourself another fella, Chrissey.
-
I don’t know how I feel about upvoting a HH post in the tug, but you’re 100% correct.
-
I recall some states leaving the union
How did that work out?

The adults are commenting on the signature drive to get California secession on the ballot, Moron. The one OK’d by the elected Secretary of State. Not whatever useless opinion you have offered.
Try to keep up, Margaret.
-
I suppose Californians could advocate that things the federal government now does be done at the state level, because California could afford to do those things for itself. That would be amusing mostly because of who would suddenly oppose the loss of federal power.
-
Your poast was about what you imagine I'm thinking, Bernice. You think about me too much. It's not healthy.
-
Agreed. Which makes them insane for not doing that.
-
-
Hey moron, you said there would be no winner in a secession scenario, which is absurd. I responded that a sane USA would just overtake the new country of California before China. There is no way it remains a sovereign nation. Secession is an aggressive act of war and if you do live in CA, welcome to being a US territory.
Did you forget what you posted, Margaret?
Didn’t you gals used to mock Sarah Palin for being a secessionist?
-
Well, most of Southern California would be fucked. I just assume water from the. Colorado River gets shut off almost immediately. Tough sledding filling those pools.
I like dealing in hypotheticals.
-
Yup they'd lose their water rights

California is almost a Trillion in CALPERS obligation. The reality is CALPERS is only funded to less than 70%. The public sector has voted themselves immense raises with Firefighter leadership making well over $400K a year. One gets to retire at 50 in California and get paid 6 figures in retirement. This is paid for off the backs of the private sector as the pension plan is losing ground even with a stock market over the 40K mark. At some point, everything that is unsustainable will come crashing down. Just like they have kicked the can down the road for decades when it came to fire management, the CA legislators have done nothing to solve their retirement debt. They have simply kicked it down the road. It is state law that if the economy in CA goes seriously wrong, everything including infrastructure takes a back seat to paying CALPERs recipients.
If CA succeeds from the US, they most certainly will hurt their own states environment for business and the revenue it generates. We have seen a large amount of corporate money leave the state already not to mention many high earning taxpayers who have run and taken their revenue with them. There is no way CA can go it alone but watch some dumb democrats try.
This is going to be fascinating.

Secedes*
Solid Freudian slip tho. -
That’s what I’ve been posting since their SoS approved the petition-gathering process.
I hope they vote to secede. Can I send money to a PAC supporting secession?
Over 40% of California is federal land, so they’d have to negotiate for those areas I suppose?
Immediate authoritarian government is my guess, too, since they wouldn’t have a pesky Bill of Rights to worry about.
A secular cult full of brain-dead idiots.

Without Reno, the Western Alliance will crumble within years. I'd go as far to say whoever controls Reno wins the war. Vegas, Spokane, Phoenix, Boise, these are nice aims, but Reno is really the heart of the battle. The Gates of the West, if you will.
-
You got any younger Sarah Palins for me? I wanna do some work. Montana is calling.
-
You could probably go to Missoula and get some Brokeback action. Seems more your thing.
-
I've thought about getting property around Missoula. Crazy pricey though. Kalispell would be prime. Also pricey.
-
Squatting in a camper on public land isn’t “getting property,” Ernie.
