Hard choice. Both Come as You are and Enter Sandman have allegations of plagiarism fuckos
What song doesn’t?
An old friend once said during a discussion of popular music, “Every rock song since 1955 is a direct rip off of Chuck Berry”…
some aren’t as blatant as others but you’re right
Nirvana - All Apologies
Wrong year, pal.
And @chuck Berry was ripping off Bob wills and the Texas Playboys.
I'm not your pal, buddy.
Ah christ I always forget that. In my mind that song is on Nevermind.
it’s teen spirit rather easily you fuckin hipsters
Uh if Rusty Cage is in, isn’t Outshined?
If that riff doesn’t make your balls wiggle I’m not sure you’re alive?
Damn this was a tough vote.
God, that was a shitty year for tunes
Nirvana hit at the end of the year if I recall. The joke was that kids were getting the new Michael Jackson album for Christmas and were asking their parents to exchange it for Nirvana. Pearl Jam would get a bump shortly afterwards.
I debated between Smells and Alive but sided with Alive.
Shitty metric by 1991 for determining if there was great music happening.
None of the classic rock albums of 1991 - of which there were many - had Top 100 type singles.
The was an album oriented rock era as it gets.
Singles died with the 60s
Tell someone under 50 that you had a collection of 45s and see if they know what you're talking about
My dad had 78s when we were growing up. Big band stuff
33s reigned for over a decade before CDs
I was just looking back to see if there were any annoying guitar riffs that could have been used for Write Ins. I almost pulled "Losing My Religion" as a Mandolin riff.
Some years the Billboard Hot 100 would be IT for great music — specifically mid 80s stuff. Some years, not so much.
Look back to 1981….
Great stuff.

The dawn of MTV
The Black Album has 5 better riffs than "Enter Sandman". I could almost say the same for Nirvana, but both of those are more "iconic" than "best" i.e. everyone knows them in 3 notes.
Listing the Chili Peppers in any guitar "riff list" is super gay/criminal. Voting for them is grounds for removal forever.
The admins also need to remove access for anyone who votes "Shiny Happy People".
"Rusty Cage" and "Alive" are legit entries.
