"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Should it be reformed or not?

  • RoadTripRoadTrip Member, Swaye's Wigwam Posts: 7,871 Founders Club

    So you can't read

Of course you've supported SS money in the general fund. And you'll defend a failed system that rips off seniors because your party told you to

Keep Ss money in its own fund and invest it. That's the solution

"There's no one I trust to reform social security more than Daddy!" shrieked Race.

Hasn't your 409(k) been doing well?

  • RaceBannonRaceBannon Member, Swaye's Wigwam Posts: 106,789 Founders Club

Nothing to do with the subject

    Fuck off

  • RoadTripRoadTrip Member, Swaye's Wigwam Posts: 7,871 Founders Club

And in 30 years there will be a fraction of those Olds because reproductive rates have plummeted. The answer isn't turning this country into an overpopulated 3rd world shithole.

And in 30 years there will be a fraction of those Olds

I'd never known you gals to be in favor of hastening that process (officially), but if that's changed, I think we can find some common ground here.

There's no point in having any meaningful discussion with a brainwashed, intellectual lightweight. I agree, SS needs to be invested and kept in a separate fund. Next, we'll have Buck running in with the bucket to tell us the banks and the stock market are ponzi schemes and can't be trusted as investment vehicles for the government's play fund.

Example 278034 of H not reading anything before he posts his latest outrage.

    So emotional…

30 years is a hastening? You and your dad can "hasten" yourselves any time you'd like. The sane among us prefer to enjoy life and reign in tyrannical governments. We? know why you hate Javier Milei.

SS is a ponzi scheme. A ponzi scheme that gives a horrible return on investment for the individual.

Yet here we have our resident socialist/communist/fascist giving us the solution of "funding it" while claiming it is others with math problems.

No democrat can defend the financial viability of SS so they say "fund it".

The rats killed any talk by Bush of setting a cut off date and starting mandatory personal 401k's or retirement accounts invested in the stock market which would have solved all the problems. Even lower middle class minimum investments on an annual basis would provide a better return than what SS is going to give them. Fund the shortfall until those that were forced into a horrible SS system are dead. Switch all those under 35 into mandatory retirement accounts and the nightmare will be over in 30 or so years.

The problem is that the Ponzi scheme has left the building. My dad's generation and those close behind them made out like bandits. For most of his upper middle class working career he and his employer were paying a small percentage into the "trust" fund, which never existed and was at the small maximum contribution wage base by May. My Mom paid at best a hundred bucks into SS. My dad got more out of SS than he put in even after assuming a decent rate of return and then my mom got surviving spouse SS for 15 years after my dad died. On the other hand I and my employer were paying in a high percentage on a much higher max contribution wage base for decades. I get a fraction of what was supposedly paid in for me into the "trust" fund assuming a decent rate of return. However, my "overpayment" was all spent on paying off my dad's generation and the low social security earners who receive a minimum social security payment which is essentially welfare (including the chain migration which drags in elderly family members which work a few years and then get their minimum payments for a couple of decades. Then factor in the totally corrupt diversion of "trust" funds for the social security disability insurance fraud payments. To continue without fundamental reform and just fund the system would make a recent college grad and his employer fund social security for the short fall and then pay the full boat into the grad's mandatory 401(k). Essentially making our kids and grandkids pay for the money that was already spent funding the shortfall from prior debt borrowings to pay for not having a secured and funded actual social security "trust" fund.

Social Security is just the lever by which the Fed can print more money.

DOGE the fuck out of the government, end the Fed and there will be plenty of money to to fund SS.

I love the Dazzler blabbing about SS when it's his side that allows anyone and everyone to draw from it even though they never paid in. We're currently paying the for his parties importation of 15 mi9llion illegals from SS and every other government agency we have including FEMA, Medicare, Veterans Admin etc. He voted for all this and says we just have to fund it. He cheers this shit but doesn't send a check. Democrats should be taxed 50% of their gross income to pay for this shit as they created it. Cheaters keep cheating news of the day.
