Indoctrinated with 3 square meals a day, most can not fathom being without food for an appreciable amount of tim.
However, every major religion sings the praises of a fasting. The scientific literature is growing.
Have you done it? How long did you go? Were you able to break-through the obvious mental barrier? What part was the most beneficial for you?

When I went away to Bible school I could barely afford one meal a day. That's when I realized my mom was wrong about 3 squares
Also did some religious fasting. 3 days was tops
I still eat one real meal a day. I got way too heavy on 3 as an adult

if I eat breakfast (a real breakfast, not just cereal), I don’t have lunch. If I don’t have breakfast, I will have a later lunch, and not have dinner. I try to only eat when hungry, not according to a schedule made centuries ago to maximize workers performance …my wife struggles immensely with this concept.

I tried to skip breakfast and sometimes lunch for a while. Water only. Like once a week which would be close to 20 hour fasting if my sugars didn’t crash.
I gained weight. Don’t understand. So now I don’t play with it anymore

Colonoscopy prep and the 1st cleanse didn't work, so day 2 of cleanse and my appt was the last in the afternoon. 48h w/no food and 12h of pissing out your asshole makes one a ton of fun to be around!

I did a 7-day water-only fast the first of September.
I'm no stranger to fasting. I've completed a few long juice fasts (2 weeks plus), but water only is no joke.
Usually day 2-3 are the worst in any fast. Not the case this time. Day 5 I was questioning my existence.
The mind fuck is when you are still shitting the morning of Day 7. Like how ?

I feel like extended fasting would be a nightmare after 2 hr bike ride or 3 or 4 hr ski day.
I have done it maintaining a 3-5mi per day walking habit. I don’t dawdle.
I have not done it commensurate with any strenuous workout regimen. I would probably pass.
It’s definitely possible I was on a juice fast and been on the hill at the same time. I don’t remember exactly, maybe. But it would be a groomer day, or night skiing, not a steep and deep day.
Obviously, it would be super important to maintain your electrolytes.

I’ve heard Jocko Willink say he’s maintained his workout routine through a fast. I think that was only a day or two fast, not extended stay America. Also, he’s a fucking animal.

I’d have to be unconscious to go more than a few hours without eating.
I've eaten breakfast at 11 a few times. It wasn't really intentional.
I count every single calorie and have a cheat day every 7-10 days. It's still hard to lose weight. I want to get down to 155 lbs., just so I can eat junk food for a month…
