Love seeing the party that proposes gutting FEMA, eliminating the NWS, and cries about the welfare state, reducing federal government bloat, and increasing state autonomy, create a false narrative about how the federal government isn't doing enough to help the poor people. Even if that were true, which it isn't, you can't have it both ways. Look at the hundreds of GOP reps and senators who have already voted against increased FEMA funding. FEMA funding has not gone towards immigration or Ukraine. Shut it down. Trump was the most recent president to divert FEMA funding, not Biden.
FEMA funding is controlled by congress. The GOP has repeatedly voted against increasing it. The Trump platform even calls for gutting it, including flood insurance guarantees, the biggest piece, as well as eliminating the NWS. The GOP/social media pearl clutching and narrative building/shifting about this hurricane and its response is propagandized horseshit, clear as day, the same as it is every day about something or another. -
