The top 8 teams last year were probably better than all but 1 or 2 teams this year

Only real challenger is Bama because DeBoer is that good, even in year 1 with the turnover.

At the same time, I don’t think there are QBs out there replacing what McCarthy/Penix/Nix brought to college football.
Plus FSU, Georgia and tOSU all had resumes which would have put them in the 4 team playoff in almost every year.
