I follow a twatter account about movies and the account had an interview with Caan about Pacino getting set aside. The producers or movie company want Caan to play Michael.

Caan could've been Michael. He could play low key characters too.
But Pacino WAS Michael for the reason mentioned. Pacino was one of the greatest when he let his body language and expression do the work as opposed to all the over acting he has done since the 90s. He had a stare in those shows that rivaled Clint Eastwood's.

I don't even consider that shitshow. I've probably tried a dozen times and have never sat through it. I don't really know what happens after the Joey Sauza killing. I do remember Tuco eating bad cannoli in the theatre and other bits after but no plot.

That would not have worked. At. All. Redford is like Costner … they try hard, but they have a narrow range of characters they can play.
