There is definitely a difference in Ukraine vs Taiwan though. We have a direct economic interest in Taiwan. We don't in Ukraine.

Dems, neocons and RINOs have spent decades rolling over for the chicoms based on the premise we could bribe their way through transferred prosperity to being a functioning western style democracy. Too much interdependence on both sides economically that can't really be unwound, at least in short/medium term. The potential economic catastrophe is why China doesn't take Taiwan, not because we scared them off by our response in Ukraine.
