Offseason Natty Ranking Big 10 QBs
Looking at the projected starters for new conference next year and oh boy is it bad. Gives me some additional hope for 2024.
- Dillon Gabriel Oregon - The only proven actually good QB. Has already started four full seasons of college football and extra three games on top of that btw.
- Drew Allar Penn State - It's a low bar but probably the clear #2. He has good tools but seemed to struggle against good defenses.
- Will Rogers Washington - Thrown for a ton of yards. You can't say that about a lot of guys on this list.
- Miller Moss USC - Flashed in the Holiday Bowl.
- Will Howard Ohio State - Surprised they couldn't bring in someone better than this. Shows it's a bad time for QBs.
- Tyler Van Dyke Wisconsin - Was he good at Miami? I think. Wisconsin QBs outside of wonder boy are always average for better or worse.
- Max Brosmer Minnesota - Had a good career at New Hampshire. That's something.
- Kurtis Rourke Indiana - Had a good year a couple years ago at Ohio. I don't know.
- Hudson Card Purdue - Is this a good or a bad name?
- Aidan Chiles Michigan State- media seems to love this guy? Why though? And has Smith ever produced a good QB?
- Dylan Raiola Nebraska - Seems like last name QB recruits tend to not pan out but given his recruiting ranking he might have a lot more potential than all these guys.
- Ethan Garbers UCLA - There's a plausible scenario where he could have been UW's starter this year. I don't like that scenario.
- Brendan Sullivan Northwestern - He's Northwestern so he must be poised and smart
- Athan Kaliakmanis Rutgers - Showed a little bit last year
- Jaydn Davis Michigan - Michigan QBs tend to suck and he won't have what McCarthy had around him.
- Luke Altmyer Illinois - No idea
- Billy Edwards Jr. Maryland - Good name
- Cade McNamara Iowa - This is the guy who threw for 40 yards against UW in 2021 I'm pretty sure.

Yep, Cade McNamara was once deemed a better QB than JJ McCarthy by Jim Harbaugh, who never makes mistakes.
The B1G is insanely top heavy. Most of the teams are a total fucking dreckfest
Woolley, I support you thinking Penn State has both a good coach and QB. As a PSU tuition payer and occasional football game attendee, I think both of them suck ass.
Allar has a chance to take a step this year but there is something just off about him. I would not rank him above proven starters Rogers and Howard. I might even prefer the unknown athleticism of Chiles and Raoila over his known check downs and one read then throw it away game.
As it stands right now PSU has NO WRs, with their best returning one transferring (Gee I wonder why). They’re counting on some tOSU senior transfer who was buried on the depth chart there.
Allar is ass until he’s not.
That's a whole lotta shit.
I think you're underrating Chiles and Raiola.
I'd put Rogers over Allar until proven otherwise.
Howard is a poor man's Justin Herbert. He'll tear it up at Ohio State. He's a less incompetent DJ U.
Allar was a 5 star though!!!
And 6'5" and built like Josh Allen!!!1!1!one!!
I don't think Allar is good. I just don't think the rest of the guys are good either. Rogers is a clear #3 and even he is suspect as a Mike Leach QB. Other than Ohio State all those schools shockingly don't know how to offense.
Even TOSU struggled on offense last year. I think I said it in another thread in January, Bucknuts traded Kyle McCord for slightly more athletic Kyle McCord. Will Howard lost his job at Kansas State. Let that sink in.
I was surprised Ohio State didn't get Cam Ward. I don't think he's CJ Stroud or anything but think he would have been the best option for their offense.
Never thought I’d see the day where WoolleyDoog would be bought out by Phil Knight. Yet here we are
I mean there's no reasonable way around putting Gabriel #1. He's still a 5'9 and shouldn't be allowed to still play college football since he's started 4.25 seasons already.
What shitty list. Not much talent in the conference. Alar was absolutely terrible last year but there is no clear cut good qb's other than Gabriel this year.
Aller is McCarthy minus the winning big games part. Supposedly a top 5 pick next year, which probably is more of a statement against how shitty the quarterbacks nationwide are going to be this year.
I see the QBs coming back and wonder if the stew of awful shit that has been injected into college football the past 20 years is affecting QB development. This QB class was miles ahead of the upcoming ones as of now and Penix, Nix, and Daniels had been in college forever and Williams mentally is a major question mark.
Williams mentally is a major question mark because he wears nail polish and cried after a loss?
Whenever you see the consensus going one way, bet the other way. By all accounts Williams is a hard worker and good teammate. I'll take that, he'll be good.
I'm not as much on that train but people are obsessed with it.
Williams was the best qb Washington played last year
This is a weird take since the 2024 draft class was generationally stacked.
Then looking backwards Stroud is already a superstar from 2023. 2022 was a down year. 2021 Lawrence and Fields. 2020 Burrow, Tua, Herbert and Love.
If anything it’s pretty clear ncaa QBs are better and more nfl ready than they were 20 years ago.
It’s just a down year.
