Blazing Saddles last night. Today is the last day it’s on Netflix.
-
Hop… 3 times in 2 days. Slept through 2 of them. Off topic but instead of Easter egg hunts TOF came up with squid games in the backyard. Involved me throwing projectiles and water balloons at my children. Winners won eggs with money. She won the day for once. I may have muttered the words “I love you” and actually partially meant it.
-
Birth of the Dragon. With starting Warrior and reading some Bruce Lee books lately this was a pretty good random discovery on Netflix.
-
Finished Band of Brothers last night. HBO delivered on this. I was thumbing through the book yesterday and realizing how well they told the story.
-
Couldn't agree more. It's one of the best ever rather easily. I'd watch it every year if it wasn't such a big, time and energy draining commitment.
-
One of the more disappointing things in the book is the epilogue. It only mentions a few of the guys.
I read a ton of military history and many books about small units will list the casualties. I found myself wanting to go back to see who was killed and where but that would require reading the book again which isn’t happening right now.
-
Watched Baby Driver and the Sting the last couple nights.
I enjoy great special effects and the way those effects have made movies better in lot of ways but goddamn the Sting was incredible as there wasn’t anything modern in the movie, just great acting and a great plot.
-
We doubled up on movies last night.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Could’ve also been called Crotch Rot Retard Plot.
Followed that up with Maverick with Mel Gibson. Made up for our earlier choice.
-
Tokyo Vice season 2 and the Gentlemen have been better as 10 hours movies than any traditional film out so far. Want to see Immaculate while it's still in theaters and looking forward to Maxxine in July, but not much else out that looks good this spring.
-
Watched Sisu, a Finnish WWII one man army ruthlessly slaughtering a slew of Nazis in a 90 minute bloodbath. Highly entertaining. Aesthetically displeasing, but a happy ending.
-
Tokyo Vice should start a new story line. This one was perfect.
-
I’m digging the Gentleman so far
-
savages - young Blake lively and Selma hyak. Old flick but worth the watch.
-
Immaculate was a decent horror idea with some good music and set pieces. 30 coins vibe and Sidney Sweeney of course was a nun that just so happened to have robes/attire that still highlighted her massive tits.
-
Will be one of the best movies this year.
-
OG Jumanji. Wasn’t bad but there was some godawful 90s cheesiness.
-
I don't know if I've already mentioned it here, but Three Body Problem on Netflix is VERY good. I read the trilogy about five years ago, and it's my favorite book series ever. The series isn't a carbon copy, but it's a very good adaptation.
-
Godzilla vs kong version 10. Kids liked it, seats reclined. That was about the best part of the movie.
-
Enjoyed it as well. Have you checked out the 30 episode Chinese version called "3 Body" on Prime? Heard it follows the books fairly closely, but it is a bit slow.
Just finished Fallout which I thoroughly enjoyed.
-
Did not watch the Chinese version. Almost watched it instead because I figured it would be truer to the books, but I don't get a lot of time to watch TV these days, and 30 episodes was a bit daunting.
-
Civil War.
Good movie, very well imagined but I can see why they were so coy about the premise of 'Who was the federal government and who was the CA/TX forces'
-
Willy Wonka the new one. Light, silly, easy to follow.
Holdovers I believe was oscar nominated. Kind of a coming of age movie but for two people at much different stages of life. It was okay.
I watched both on a plane.
-
I'm hearing they do a shitty jerb of giving the context of why there's a civil war. This will likely annoy this shit out of my history noyd brain. Might have to take a pass.
-
Sorry to give spoilers away, and the director is denying this which he's completely full of shit about it, but there's no way you watch it beginning to end and pick up on all their little side quips and not think that they're imagining that the president is a Trump type, winning a second term (and of course forcing a third).
The critics who are saying that the movie doesn't take sides or shows how boths side are bad are either dishonest or terrible at understanding subtext or both.
-
And CA and TX are on the same side? LOFL.
-
Specifically chosen because 'clear fascism means you put your political differences aside'.
The public comments are so that both sides of the aisle will go pay to watch it, which worked.
But when you watch it and notice all of the symbolism, which I won't get into, plus take into account that the movie takes places in the loyalist states, it's clear how the director/producers feel. And if you saw Men, none of this is surprising.
-
Watched Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection the past few days. Hadn’t seen any of them since they were released. I paid attention this time to see how the plot holes I had in my mind were answered.
-
Ferrari
Didn't understand why Michael Mann needed to do this story previous to watching and still don't get it.
-
Shogun on FX was awesome
Cast lacked diversity though
-
I'm on episode ~5 right now and so far the show hasn't quite lived up to expectations. But it seems like everything was ramping up so if they could kill off the retarded English guy and get the warlords going against each other in the next couple hours I could easily change my mind.
