The People's Republic of Washington

Getting it good and hard. Chinslee and company saving the world from chicom coal CO2 by phucking hard working Washingtonians for the green gaia religion. Hope these surprised morons all voted for dems, Chinslee and the dementia patient. Wow, imagine passing down mandated costs to consumers? It's like there is thing called economic reality. Fortunately, this won't affect the cost of anything else like gasoline or any consumer goods that require energy to produce.
VANCOUVER, Wa. (KATU) — Many people are getting their most-recent NW Natural bills in the mail. Some customers have noticed a new "WA Climate Act Fee." The Washington legislature passed it back in 2021 as a way to encourage polluters to lower emissions. But that cost has now been passed down to the customer.
“The first bill was $30.38 and I assumed it was a one-time fee. I didn’t think it was going to be every bill," Vancouver resident Marianne Moore said of the fee she's now had on two of her bills.
The cost is thanks to a new state-mandated climate program called the Washington Cap and Invest Program. These fee on customer's monthly bills started January 1, 2024 as a result of this program.
“I thought a climate fee what is this all about? And why are we having to pay it? I was quite shocked," Moore said after noting she called NW Natural and said she was told it's now a new monthly fee.

But wait there's more
Puget Sound Energy is asking for a big rate increase for wind energy
-
The scam of utilities is that the depreciation on huge capital projects just get rolled into the rates and profit margin remain intact. So the incentive for them is to just create more and bigger capital projects, regardless of whether they work or not.
-
Last I heard there was a lot of steel in a 300 ft tall wind turbine. Thank the lord that producing steel and copper doesn't require any energy and that the wind always blows all the time and is cheap.
-
Green energy only fucks the end user
Same as always
-
-
The scam is that Blue State Utility Commissions approve all capital projects. Between state renewable mandates and the over 30% federal subsidies for renewable energy credits utilities get their wind and solar projects approved. Even with the subsidies, renewable projects due to inflation are now significantly more expensive the combined cycle natural gas plants. Plus, you need expensive transmission to get power from nowhere to somewhere. Commie utility commissioners don't care about costs if they can virtue signal and the costs are just passed on to the idiot consumers who deserve it. But you are right, the more expensive the electric plant the more money the utility makes. So, they just go along with the grift.

The region cost of living + no income tax for the state still makes it one of the best places to live on the West Coast. But if they keep it up long term + Oregon trying to fuck people crossing the bridge for work then yeah, it'll become just like any other cuck place on the west coast.
-
They eroded the state's competitive balance on the income tax by starting with the capital gains tax. No way the dems will be satisfied until an income tax on ordinary income is imposed.
-
I am moving before I have to do their capital gains tax. Already told the wife to say goodbye to mommy within the next year or two. Fuuuck that noise.
-
Dems are poised to have a supermajority in the House after 2024. Senate could happen, too. Constitutional changes can then be made under single party rule.
Realistically, I don't think a straight income tax will happen because there are enough swing districts in play, for now. But the Dems will continue to nibble around the edges to find more revenue for their insatiable big government appetite.
-
Like they did with the capital gains tax they will start with only effects the rich and you need $300,000 in income to have to pay and then work from there.
-
The capital gains tax is a sales tax guys
Income tax is unconstitutional in Washington
-
Ditz doesn’t understand how basic pricing works and how it impacts consumers when fees or increased salaries are imposed on companies/corporations by a government run by bureaucratic Retards. Enjoy the extra $370/year on your energy bill, dipshit.
-
I was at a solar panel manufacturer in Bend probably 10 years ago that was a client and midway during a meeting they all got called out for an emergency conference call. Turns out either a grant or subsidy wasn’t renewed and that pretty much ended to meeting and eventually the company a year or so later. Way cheaper to just build them in China no matter how much coal- or hydro-powered electricity they use in the process.
-
When all the expensive solar panel components and materials are manufactured in China, you can't compete on price. If you just ban Chinese solar panels, then the US panels are so expensive that even the huge government subsidies still don't make them economical.
-
Ten or 12 years ago the wife and I took a stroll through the Port of Olympia. Giant windmills from China being unloaded
Built out of no gluten soy and shipped on sailing ships so no carbon footprint. Put on horse drawn wagons to go wherever birds need to be killed
-
Hauling just one gigantic propeller on a semi slows down the interstate through cities so bad the idling cars’ pollution would choke out the Marlboro Man.
-
My RV trip last fall headed south I passed a whole bunch of those useless toxic things on the road. Until you're right next to them their size cannot be understood!

The economic useful life of a wind turbine is touted as 25 to 30 years. However, the federal wind tax credit expires at 10 years. So what happens? After 10 years they tear down and have to recycle or bury the 10 year old wind turbines which are fully functional and replace them with new wind turbines so they can start sucking the government tit on a new 10 year wind credit. You think the US MSM ever explains that to economic retards like buck?
-
A five-megawatt wind turbine can require 700 gallons of lubricant, and costly synthetic fluids are preferred in the industry. Typically, oil change intervals are scheduled for from 9 to 16 months.
So green!
-
How come smart leftists who want to save the planet are so ignorant about how their solutions make things worse?
-
Once up and running, the 700 gallons of lubricant are probably comparable for what they are using on a 500 megawatt combined gas cycle natural gas plant plus the actual natural gas. The problem is a wind turbine produces only about 40% of rated capacity. So a 500 megawatt wind plant is actually producing only 200 megawatt hours of electricity while a gas plant is running over 95% efficiency. Then when the wind doesn't blow and you need 500 megawatts of power you need a standby 500 megawatt gas plant plus your wind farm to meet demand. So now you are paying for both at least one 500 megawatt wind farm plus a 500 megawatt gas plant. None of this pencils out. Hence the huge increase in electrical rates.
PS Those 20 year warrantied wind turbine lubricated gear boxes are failing early like crazy. The gear box manufacturers are getting killed on warranty replacements and part of the large increase in turbine prices. You can stick a 500 megawatt gas plant on five acres anywhere you have a gas line. You can stick a 500 megawatt wind plant on hundreds of acres in Wyoming, population 585,000 because that's where the wind blows and there is available land. Long way to Los Angeles or Phoenix or Portland or Seattle to move that power. New transmission lines don't use any land, fortunately and all populated communities love a huge transmission line cutting through.

The LED light bulbs on the package say they last 13 years. I’ve changed the ones in my kitchen probably 5 times in 10 years. All this shit is way worse than advertised.
-
LED bulbs seem to have shorter lifespans than incandescent bulbs while costing 5 times as much money. I find myself replacing a burned out LED bulb at least once every couple months.
-
I've had great luck with LED bulbs. Had about 25 125 watt ceiling spot incandescents which are HOT. The would last 9 months. Replaced them with fluorescents which I hated because of the light quality and the slow turn on. Had the spots replaced with LED inserts and now great light and no replacements needed since they were replaced 2 years ago and run at 15 watts.
