If he never signed with Bama, and we never got a buyout, then he was pretending to be the Alabama OC while under contract with UW. That would be some grade A horseshit, and probably grounds for UW to sue Alabama for the $2m buyout. If that’s what happened, he fucked UW to do DeWhore a solid.

Fucked UW? Grubb interviewed for the UW HC job, didn’t get it, and was offered the Bammer OC job. I’m having a hard time vilifying Grubb in any of this.

Agreed. I'm still pro-Grubb. He wanted to stay and keep it together. He and the family took one look around Tuscaloosa, then called his agent. "Get me the fuck outta here." If he proves himself as an excellent HC, I wouldn't kick if he came back some day.

Did you even read what I wrote? I understand why he left after not getting the HC job. I’m just saying if he fake accepted the Bama job and didn’t sign a contract with them on the off chance he might jump to the NFL, that’s a shitty move. He tricked kids into thinking he was going to Bama, and if he was pretending to be the OC at Bama without signing a contract with them, and while still under contract with UW, that’s bullshit.

On such things, my first chinclination (hai @Fire_Marshall_Bill !!1) is to think that there’s smart agents and lawyers on both sides of the deal and it’ll work out. Then I’m reminded that Kirk Ferentz not only has a job but a monstrous buyout, and back to square one knowing nothing.
