Question for real lawyers (not shitty fake ones), Alabama AD said they “hired” Grubb. If he didn’t sign a contract with them (unclear if he did or not), but was “hired” is Bama liable for the UW buyout?

I guess the question is that if Grubb is acting in official duties and declaring himself as a coach and the Alabama AD commenting on Grubb leaving, would that be enough to trigger a buyout clause even if he never signed with Bama?
