Jedd Fisch Wants Steve Ballmer Involved With Washington Football

Better investment than his NBA team. Who wants to sit and middle manage Paul George?
-
Thanks Taft!
-
If he’s a “relentless recruiter” this would be a good start
-
That guy is all pro sports. He used to owner control. Does he care enough about Washington to go big enough to get that kind of outsized influence?
That's the several million dollar question.
-
Are donations to the AD a tax write-off?
-
This is pro sports pal, but I see the point you’re making. Anyways, money talks and if he bankrolls he gets a say in the affairs.
-
He may be a Dwag! at heart and I just haven't heard about it. The only thing I thing about Balmer and college is the he went to Harvard and DNGAF about college except he allows his wife to send large sums to Whoregon.
But he may be a Dwag! Someone here must know.
-
Shoot…I want him involved with my wife.
-
Was TwoNipples taken? Asking for a fren

Ballmer has lived here for over 40 years and has never given a shit about UW football. It's baffling that people think he would randomly start now.
-
Ballmer Hall, brah.
-
It's because he's famous, and coached football. Fish likes anybody famous that has ever coached (or "managed" I suppose). With these credentials it's a sure thing he'll be a coach.
"Ballmer, the first in his family to graduate from college,[18] attended Harvard University, where he was a manager for the Harvard Crimson football team "
-
Hard to believe at 68 years old Ballmer is all the sudden going to a white whale for the Program but Fisch seems to be a guy who has a charismatic personality so if he can sell Steve on a vision maybe he reaches into his couch cushions and finds 6/7 figures in bills laying there.
-
Not sure what’s going on with Ballmer but there is definitely some smoke around him right now. He can buy and sell Phil Knight multiple times over.
He has a somewhat stained name locally as the CEO who presided over the only stagnant era of MSFT stock price. He also teased basketball fans and ended up settling for the Clippers.
Fisch can sell his ass off. I can pretty easily envision a scenario where Fisch convinces him the greatest ROI for his legacy is to kick $20M a year to UW Football for the next 5 years. Point to the energy and excitement around what happened with this season and convince Ballmer the only thing UW has missed is fuck you money to bring in talent. Ballmer has ungodly amounts of money and $20M a year is a rounding error in his net worth. $20M is a shitload of money in CFB. Ballmer would pretty quickly be revered from a not small segment of the people he has always wanted to impress for whatever reason (his small dick and being a nerd): athletes and sports fans. -
What's his position on Gaza?
-
Flirting with Seattle's monied elite is a good thing in the new Era of premier league team buying.
It's been a taboo in the past to mix money and football but UW has a shit ton of influence and deep business relationships built in.
If a bunch of hillbilly car dealers can make the SEC dominant for a decade imagine what Seattle money can buy.
-
This.
It's legal to buy a team.
So do it.
This is one of the wealthiest areas on planet earth and actually does give a shit about football.
-
This is a new UW. It's not inconceivable that money that has been right here all along is actually interested in buying a piece. Maybe they just weren't allowed to before or at least not in the way they wanted.
Maybe it's just a new way of asking on UW's part. Maybe it's all just Fisch schmoozing his ass off. I don't know but things feel so different now. Openly courting big money to the football program is not something I imagined I'd see from UW as recently as last year.
-
Gotta think it’s Dannen too. Makes sense to me that leopard lady wouldn’t have the first clue about pulling anything like this off.
And her ties to “doing it the right way” Petersen just worked as a cover for her not to have to work hard at something she didn’t want to do.
-
Or the general lasting Pac12 attitude that it was "beneath" them.
-
80 billion to 45 billion. I don’t think he can buy him multiple times over.
-
This is SubK levels of feverish nonsense. Steve Ballmer owns an NBA franchise in the entertainment capital of the world. There is no hard sell Fisch could make that would convince him that $20m a year to an unrelated college football program would "cement his local legacy" or whatever other goofy shit you nerds think billionaires care about.
-
Ballmer can whynotboth.gif which is why it's easily possible. He bothers enough to retain a seat in the stadium, has donated to the UW, and it's nothing for him to do so you'd be stupid, Jimmy Lake, or Jalen DeBoer not to go after him.
-
Where do you even come up with this shit? The only mention I've ever seen of Ballmer caring about Husky football was back when he was trying to woo the NBA and relocate the Kings to Seattle as part of his full-court "I'm a Seattle sports superfan" PR blitz. He has since bought the Clippers and we haven't heard a peep in the decade since. You're better off praying that he buys the Mariners.
-
Haven’t looked at it lately but Ballmer has been over $100B for like a decade now and is likely still one of the 10 richest people in the US
-
You alright? Let me know your theory as to why Fisch went out of his way to sit courtside at a Clippers game his second week on the job and then name dropped Ballmer and Gates last week at a press conference. For fun? Or because he’s working an angle? $20M to Ballmer is the equivalent of $5 to a normal person.
-
Apparently Fisch attending a Clippers game (while he was still at UA) is enough to convince some of our fans that Ballmer will be ponying up $20m a year any day now. Cook it!
-
So if Jedd thought it a worthwhile investment to seek out Balmer while at Arizona he obviously thinks it is even moreso as coach of UW. After all, he did mention Balmer by name while coach at UW. Follow?
-
Sure. Let me know when the check clears and we can all take a victory lap.
