O crootin vs D crootin, and the paradoxes within

I think these are the reasons I have a hard time resolving my feelings. He can’t seem to recruit for the life of him. Anyone he targets that has any buzz he can’t get.
But then he’s also able to target under the radar project guys, even say a DL that switches over to TE to help with depth. And then he coaches them into studs.
It’s reminiscent of Utah body type recruiting and development. But is it on purpose, or is it necessity. Is he a shit recruiter and lazy? Is he a body type and develop guy. Abundance?
For such a track record of good players at his position, he also has a track record of suck. Thus, no resolution to my feelings. shrug

All the good TEs he actually recruited were local. He wasn’t going to offer Drew Sample until Pete got here. He’d been chasing Chase Blakely instead. He’s never pulled in a top level TE from California as a Husky TE coach and that’s with Pete as his closer. He’s a good developer of talent but he can’t sell that skill to recruits outside of the state of Washington to save his life.

Dissly played DL at UW for 2 years before transitioning to TE. He played in 6 games as a true freshman and started a few games as a sophomore.
He switched because we didn't have any WTE who could block in 2016.

I’m legitimately having a hard time remembering if he was actually a bad recruiter or if I was just so caught up in the TBS/TSIO nonsense that I believed he was a bad recruiter.
-
He was a fucking terrible recruiter. Pretty solid coach tho.

pow pow sucks. There's a reason he went to unlv after "developing" all that talent.

This is something the TSIO guys got right actually. This area produces a bounty of 6’5, 230 Norse TE types and therefore we’re teed up for success.

I've heard Arizona guys say he was a great recruiter in the region. Maybe he was recruiting guys other than TEs too? I know nothing. Never have, never will.

He got a promotion on the corporate ladder of coaches. He needs to perform at a higher level, otherwise…
